Depends on the format you're reading. Each variant (Web Novel, Light Novel, Anime, Manga) are all intentionally different takes on the story as noted by the Author. The OGFL is progressively nicer in each variant that I listed in that order; in the Anime she was literally forced by the Almighty Plot which was a tangible force, to betray the FL and had no ACTUAL say in the matter. So far in the Manga she's Actually Just That Nice, unless something in the Raws have spoiled otherwise and she flips in a last-second switch for literally zero reason, which would suck from just a writing perspective. The setting canonically deals with alternative timelines, which it seems is being represented by these story changes per format so far.

I felt bad for that heroine, because it seemed like the MC only furthered her suspicions with their actions, and the heroine was literally trying to do the right thing rather than be selfish or overlook evidence or any of the usual evil heroine stuff.
I actually wanted her to be reincarnate or something, because her death seemed so unfair.

I'd consider attempting to murder your ally in the middle of enemy territory, which would have succeeded if Yumiella hadn't been wearing a protection amulet, pretty evil. Either way her punishment is being under house arrest while being forced to run through dungeons to increase her level.
