Stopping the falling lumber from killing Casey, attacking the academy, summoning a Spirit King, and the rewriting Louis' barrier, a barrier that covered the ENTIRE school, into something that was only a foot in diameter and flipping the focus from external to internal....

So Casey was a lot less pressured into killing the prince than I thought. Though I get it, if three of your older siblings have died due to dragon attacks that your own country isn't even sending defenses for, then what loyalty does that country deserve.

Like sure, it's high treason to try to kill a member of the royal family for the exact reason that otherwise anyone with a grudge would do it, however, it's their own damn fault if they're purposefully letting Casey's people suffer and even plan to invade the country her people owe their survival to lacking the kind of protection their king should owe them. Lords have switched alliances for much less.

Though of course the real tragedy is that the prince himself isn't in this position because he wants to be, not that it changes much for Casey and the people she is sworn to defend.

I really hope Casey doesn't get a free pass. I don't think the defense of "The kingdom didn't help enough and there are rumors that they might use us as a stepping stone for war." justifys a terrorist bombing of the prince and surrounding civilians.

Really what's the plan? If they succeed you think the kingdom is just going to go "Wow that was weird, oh well the prince is dead". No their gonna investigate and Casey's whole extended family is going to get executed and their territory seized.

Nope, no one died. Since no one else know about the assassination attempt, Louis let her lives. He belong to the first prince faction so he doesn't actually mind if the second prince died as long as it hurt Duke Clockford. He just now forced Casey to work for him. /SPOILER]
