aah, this is a fresh material, in football there's this term hate-watching, Ig in manga it's more like hate-reading, I really hate this girl, I just want to continue reading to see her lose

@PramRamadhan

I'm pretty sure this is translated incorrectly though:
https://mangadex.org/chapter/d0680c1a-d1ff-4538-ab66-b94af904b190/11

maybe it's 'his facial muscles... no way he could' ,

because 'my' doesn't make sense when you consider MC's reply
On page 11. Hyouka say "MY FACIAL MUSCLES AND VOCAL CORDS HAVE ATROPHIED"
On page 12. Still Hyouka Talk "TOTALLY TRUE!!" Then "YOU ALL SHOULD BE MORE CONSIDERATE OF MY THROAT!!"
Next Iori Reply "OH, SO YOU CAN TALK? THEN YOU SHOULD'VE SPENT SPRING BREAK WORKING ON YOURSELF"
If use "his facial muscles... no way he could" it won't connect with the next reply. because i see here the speech bubble is opposite. i already expected this to be corrected, sorry i forgot to add a note on the panel

The returning girl seems to be the teasing type. The VERY teasing type, and I don't particularly like that. Also, we still don't know WHY she rejected him back then. If she rejected him because she didn't like him that way back then it's fine....
But if she rejected him because she thought it was fun to do so, and wanted to keep him tense, then it's not really fine in my book. And yes, imo that's entirely possible in this type of manga.
Or a possible third option, she rejected him because she had to move away. After all she is the "returning girl" and did say "I'm home" but what do I know, it's only chapter 1.

'Totally true' should be Iori's line though indicating 'agreement' with her speech , because no one says 'totally true' about their own comment when they personally finish speaking. speech bubble is also pointing to him.

then the rest is her line 'so you can talk'

also, next line is iori's comeback to her retort 'as expected , hyouka...'

Japanese author really likes this hyper tsundere pro max heroine trope, huh? 😑 i'm fine with tsundere heroine, but it's really annoying when the girl just went too far with her behaviour, and to make it more worse, this pro max girl will probably have 100% chance of winning if it's going to be a love triangle story 🙄 japanese author really like to make them win too, no matter what it takes, like their life depend on it

if her part "so you can talk" doesn't make sense because previously she complained about not being able to talk on page 11

Hmm... Yeah, no. Everyone is insufferable. There is little to no depth in the characters. Surface level of dishonesty is all there is. Suppose the male lead gets together with the childhood friend, their relationship is shaping to be a toxic one.

I repeat: I'm pretty sure something was translated incorrectly. I urge you to look at the japanese again, and rethink the flow of the conversation

the flow that makes most sense is that :
she was originally making fun of him for saying he isn't able to talk,
but he plays along with her joke 'true, be more considerate' .
since he did say something , then she says , 'oh you can talk afterall.... (then another insult)'
then he replies 'hyou-sama has a sharp tongue' referring to her 2nd insult

This is the Raw, I have tried to translate it to see if there is a mistake in the subject, and when I noticed there was no sentence that referred to Iori's condition, but rather the subject was Hyouka herself.

but it would make sense if the conversation was as you said. I thank you for the correction, because when translating this manga it really confused me. I just stuck to the conversation without rearranging the sentences to make sense

Why make their designs so similar...

Well the only reasons I'm certain that the one he confessed too and transfer student are not the same are title's description: he confessed to hiyori, his childhood friend name is hyouka and new girl name is You Amaya ( as stated in description ). It says that she is, too, his childhood friend, while the girl he confessed to was just a popular girl.

I guess that confession is just a plot starter, a way for hyouka to be struck with her inner feelings.

From the chapter one theres really nothing that would pique any interest. Seems like default love polygon kind of story.
