That's my cue to drop this. I thought it would be a story about a character breaking free from being pathetic and the bully getting what they deserve, but I guess not. When you think the main character is making progress, he takes 3 steps back in the next chapter. Even if I knew he just doesn't want to let her die, but he won't be buddy-buddy with her ever again, I disagree with this. She deserves whatever outcome for her actions.

Everything she's done after hiring that one apprentice was done to make her look bad,
That's why her imprisonment arc was conveyed as more comedic than a punishment.
If the mc never left her he would still only be gathering materials. (It's not like she's evil, just a little rotten)
