They really are meant for each other. This chapter hits hard; even if he never vocalized it, Konpeito's centuries long struggle with the same issue he's faced throughout his life has given him some peace too, through the discovery of a kindred spirit.

I think Tsuzuki is right... Konpeito can only read the emotions that are strong, there is simply no way, people are constantly strung up as she says they are, it simply is not possible... but as a empath with a fragile mind, she became too accustomed to her own reality, and as a mage, her reflection of that reality has a deep effect on her.

It is like Konpeito suffers from a swaying hyper case of burnout, at a point she is entirely able to relate, connect, and work, but then... she just shuts down, coupled with the fact that it became an extremaly powerful memory erasure spell... it keeps her on a vicious loop.

Mushiro has an unbreakable poker face, but she clearly cares a lot.

Only 4 more chapters... man... I will miss this one, I don't remember the last story that had the same wondrous and laid back feel good as this one has... wait... I think the last one I felt this was with Aqua and Aria, the story about women gondoliers in Mars... yeah, that was a special story, highly recommend it.

Fuck... I went to see when they were published... it was in 2001 and 2002, when i read Aria (the continuation of Aqua), it still was being published, but even then... I am old, I just gave EMOTIONAL DAMAGE to myself 😭:ROFLMAO:.

I like how the art style in the flashback is just a sketch and even the panels themselves are wobbly to help illustrate his point that Konpeito can only see the important stuff, so the characters that matter have stronger line art and high contrast, but they're still a lot less detailed than reality.

Absolutely fantastic chapter, this manga keeps reminding me why I absolutely love it. If it sticks the ending, it'll go down as one of my Top 10 manga of all time. I loved how the flashbacks were drawn to show how the world was just passing him by without him taking much notice of it. Such an emotional breakdown was not something I expected out of Konpeito of all people either.
This chapter also showed the bond between the Mage and their Repository, it's clear that only special people can become the repository of special mages, not anyone can be one for anybody.
Konpeito's feelings were also shown nicely, liking your place but being scared and running away, with a convenient magic spell that removes every trace of your existence makes it worse. It's nice that they can't use their magic on Repositories, else they would spend forever doing this.

I've never felt so seen or represented in media before. Doubly so for my situation and the "application for insanity leave". My leave has been some 15 years and it has seriously helped. It comes to an end next month lol.

I can't wait for this to come out physically in English. I'm gonna buy this for those who've tried to understand my situation.

thank you so much for the chapter!! i was recently able to read the last two volumes of the official release in my country, and now i'm just as excited to see this group's take on them!! thank u again (after all this time) for being my bridge to discovering what's become a forever favorite for me!!

i actually feel like the chapter flowed better with your translation haha 😭 the crying konpeito on page 7 is such a good panel— and while it took me off guard the first time i read it, it's really nice how subdued tsuzuki's reaction is at the end

High five to my fellow Professional Crazy Person. Went to work one day, and after a little while just... checked out. Apparently I stared at my blank monitor without moving for hours. Been just over a decade since, and I am just now starting to get to what I would consider "normal".

While this may just be my first impression of this chapter, this chapter hurts me in a good way.
Feeling that you don't have any passion is something that scares me, but truly is something interesting to me.
Those feelings of normalcy and then just feeling empty is just such a good representation of scattered thinking and of self assurance.
Making data points from hasty generalizations is something that can happen when you go through the motions so having tzusuki be someone to slow them down truly feels true and good.

It really does make me feel that being a repository isn't a sign of love or attraction, but of an understanding of the other person and being able to bring out their own self to the fullest. Sort of like a symbiotic two man show.
Having someone who's able to understand you on an personal level is so deeply emotionally vulnerable and knowing their pasts it's much more clear why they view why they became a repository such a embarrassment. It's like asking you to reveal your fetishes and true self.

Every character I've read about in this manga hits me in a personal way and I'm so glad to be alive to read it.

I cried so much at this chapter.

I love this series so dang much, it might be my favourite manga ever at this point.

The author just.....hits on so many different topics with such a genuine thoughtfulness and without being judgemental.

Plus the sheer diversity in her designs and the incredible amount of neurodivergent traits in a lot of the characters. (She also made one of the bl's with one of the MOST autistic male leads I've ever seen so I'm not surprised but I am delighted )

edit: ^that was the heat frying my brain and mixing her up with the author of she loves to cook and she loves to eat, but I would adore seeing both of these authors thrive.

Just aaaah I'm both relieved and incredibly sad we're so close to the end. Relieved BC I at least trust the ending will be good considering the quality of the writing up to this point.

Thank you so much for the translation.
