Wait, does he seriously not realize it might be for him?
3 girls how to make handmade chocolate for kotaro
Her brain shrunk from being too thirstyExcuse me belly button chocolate????? How do you even come up with stuff like that LMAO![]()
It's truly unfortunate that Sumika is Kotaro's vtuber Oshi, because she probably doesn't have a chance. Though the fact there's three of them, and I choose to believe that "Harem!" is not going to be the author's answer, does mean that a dark horse might have an outsized chance. Not gonna lie, seeing Kotaro light up at the end was very heartwarming. Its as much as unintentional bullying as you can get from these three, but it really homes in on how much of an important component they are to his life.
This series is just as bad as Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku; it'll be ridiculously hard to choose just one of the three girls. Outside the "bully" premise(which I don't mind, but can be seen as a detriment), they are all wonderful girls, have varied personalities, each have a good amount of individual screen time and development, and are good friends with each other, despite their affections. Yeah, there's Sumika, but its hard to see where she'll land, even though she plays Kotaro's beloved vtuber.

Though I said what I said, in the back of my mind, it feels like Akira still has a leg-up on Kanae and Shigure because she's the only one who has had a 121 with Kotaro's mom.Though, since it would seem the being a Bullying Punching Bag is baked into Kotaro's DNA since his mom confessed she was worse to his dad than these three are to Kotaro, maybe one of these three will actually take the win. And that way they can perpetuate that cycle of "totally not abuse in the name of love"
I didn't realize that part deleted when I was proofreading my comment -What makes you think the author won't go the harem route? Are you assuming based on the author's past works, or just the tempo of the story in general? Its hard to see anyone but these three taking the crown, but you make a good point; the Shuffle! anime comes to mind.

this chapter made me more convinced that Sumika's chances are very slim, but who knows.
That honestly feels like a whole lot of extra writing that might be better served as extra content, rather than the main story. I'm not immediately certain how you'd make it all canon without something like multiverse/timeline shenanigans, and that would be too far out of left field when this has been a very grounded, realistic title up to this point in terms of science fiction/fantasy stuff. The more I think about it, the more I kinda think Sumika's chances are sunk -- mostly because of who her alter ego is, and what that means to Kotaro.
He's put her persona on such a high pedestal that dating the "girl behind his Oshi" would probably break his brain and I worry he might see it as an injustice toward his ideal of her as an idol or something. Like "can't date her because that'd ruin her purity of image" or something like that.
Who knows, I could be wrong, and maybe it'd make her an autolock for his affections. But I kinda low key worry for her, because of that specific context.
I wonder if maybe instead of an harem the author will make a route for each girl. The question then would become how many routes there will be...
