You know, this reminded me of the Kirby games. You get to see the bad guy (or someone working under that bad guy) do their stuff.

Then at the very end of the main game after defeating them, you get to know why the bad guy (or their henchmen) did what they did.

Sad? Yes.
A bit too late to know that info? Most certainly.
Was it really important? Hmm... It depends... :thonk:

It is, at least Taya knows that her father originally wasn't a monster so she doesn't have to worry about him "taking over"

Specifically the first Kirby NES game, where DeeDeeDee sabotaged the Fountain of Dreams to keep Nightmare from getting its power.

The rest of the games after that were just assholes pretending to be good guys, except for Forgotten Land which was pretty close in plot to NES Kirby.
