It seems the mascot were supposed to be like a magical pet that often giving you advice on how to progress the story. Like a magical shoujo trope that had a pet to aid her in her quest. It's something like that.

It just that, it seems this little didn't heed his advice and just do her own thing.

most likely the magic is a hail mary that she only tried after realising the more realistic path couldnt work, and the issue is even with dale like that, hes still lunarias fiancee and hates her, something still has to be done so the engagement can be broken off without dale losing status as well and while the memories are fake, to him lunaria has been picking fight after fight with Mana and wont just let it go
