Oh, I think I'm pretty sure that that core already bit back. I think it belonged to the ancient cultivator whose dream/memories her brother was stuck in.Awesome chapter to wake up to.
I so wonder how much of the original cultivator is left in the core that was used to make the sword. I hope it doesn't come back and bite her. The core's inner demons or something. I know that they stated that the core was just a source of power left behind from a failed tribulation or something, but I do think there will eventually be something about it.
This series is damned hard to keep track of most of the time. Shows everything, and hardly tells. I forget how that part was resolved. Aside from the sentencing and cover up by the ice guy.Oh, I think I'm pretty sure that that core already bit back. Since, it is what A-ting used against the sickly evil guy. And the sleep her brother fell in followed immediately after her attack iirc.
I'll try to keep it simple. The core of A-ting's sword belonged to an ancient cultivator called Ling Xi. Ling Xi was born as a tree (yes, a tree). Thanks to bathing in sunlight and adsorbing heavenly dew for 1000 years, he acquired consciousness and a human-like body, and started his cultivation path. He reached the nascent soul level, which is what comes after golden core. It's basically a mid-level cultivation stage. But despite being mid-level, he must have been incredibly powerful because he was able to fight Xiang Liu, a super powerful primordial beast that even astral projection cultivators fear. This series is damned hard to keep track of most of the time. I just think that by having it fused to her core, it would influence her. If it was from a monster, she'd get really cool powers of this was a standard shounen.
Reread parts of this series so much, I'm uncertain if I want to do it again. Liable to miss the details I want. If it was an essay I was spell checking, I'd read it backwards so I wouldn't gloss over anything. Don't think that will work in this case.
And I think Qu Chen seems to knows that Ling Xi is the core of A-ting's sword, at least according to Chapter 129 where he senses the mixed Spiritual Qi of A-ting and Ling Xi.I'll try to keep it simple. For some reason, he seems to have died when facing his lightning tribulation to ascend to the astral projection stage. It's strange that someone so powerful would fail to overcome the tribulation but we don't know the details.
In any case, having A-ting's golden core merge into her sword might unlock more of Ling Xi's innate powers. She might even be able to access his memories like Qu Chen does. That would be cool.

But honestly, I don't know how he knows that. There's likely some small detail in the events of the visions Qu Chen saw while in the coma that explains the core, and how A-ting received it for the material for her sword.
