This chapter makes me think something’s up with Sofia since she apparently just became the princess for no reason and her smile was also weird after Olivia started ranting at her. I thought Sofia was just nice to a fault, but maybe she’s happy to have at least one person that doesn’t idolize her. I don’t know since Machino should know everything about the game; I guess it could be a secret ending or something but I’m probably just overthinking this.

I want a chapter in this style for Sophia too! I'm guessing that Sophia is acting more kind and passive than she would naturally be, so as to be more accepted as a princess. And probably some of what Olivia said did hit the mark for her, so she can't hate her for it even privately. Machino being someone she can be more authentic around and have fun with would explain how much she's infatuated with her. Maybe this is explained more in the earlier chapters and I just forgot, though. Thanks for the chapter!

She was told she's the most important person in the world and needs to live up to it. Then the culture changes to a more equal society and now what made her special and important was gone. So her whole life, losing friendships, her mistakes hurting others more than her and constant pressure, suddenly became pointless. None of that mattered anymore. That's rough buddy...

It's better for their society overall but of course a person in her situation wouldn't cope well with that.

I'm curious about how they actually remember Machino, given that they're supposedly facing her in "real life". Do they have memories of how she looked and sounded even though she's interacting with them through a screen?

Yeah, on some level she's probably falling for the sunk cost fallacy, which is causing her to double down on her lone wolf syndrome.

I can't help but notice Machino has no eyes like a generic NPC or a self-insert protagonist in that last shot; I think somehow the magic that brought them into the real world in the first place has filled in Machino's appearance into their minds. Honestly, with her understanding of how Earth works being so good, Olivia is fairly well equipped to understand the implications of being a video game character.

IIRC, Sofia suggests something to the effect of seeing Machino clearly for the first time after they meet in the real world. Let me see if I can find it...

Yup. Right near the start of chapter 2, she tells Machino that she's happy to be able to gaze upon her face because she ordinarily can't see it. So from the perspective of the heroines, Machino the player character looked vague and nondescript. They have memories of their interactions (a full year's worth, at that) but being in the real world together is the first time they've seen her face and presumably heard the sound of her voice.

I wonder if them being able to recognize her is a result of whatever transmigratory magic isekai'd them into our world, a result of their already-maxxed out affection meters, or possibly both. I wouldn't mind having a conclusive answer to that.

The longer this manga runs the more impressed I am with it's writing. And I've been in since chapter 1.

Interesting chapter. I'm rather curious about what Machino did to apparently save Olivia.

Thanks for the translation!

Honestly, I feel bad that Olivia's efforts were rendered pointless due to a shift of culture, however I feel like she's still unjustly hating on Sofia. It wasn't like Sofia actually tried to ruin her life or anything. She was just doing her duties and making the majority of the rest of the kingdom happy. Especially when the alternative looked to be a possible violent revolution if Sofia hadn't been pushed onto a pedestal.
It was nothing but bad luck that it changed the culture enough to affect Olivia.
