Hoping for translations of a couple of titles

Hello,

My apologies if this is not the right place to ask, or if it's not okay to ask this -

I am a teacher at a university in the US, and I have been researching satire & grossout humor in 20th century children's media. At some point in my research I realized how much there was in Japan of the same type, during roughly the same decades, and the more I dug, the more I realized there are a number of manga series it would be worth my time to read.

When I started doing some Google & reddit searching, the ones that came up the most in this kind of category were Shameless School, Dame Oyaji, Makoto-Chan, Dr. Slump, and Super Mario Kun. Shameless School and Dr. Slump I've been able to find full translations for, but not the others.

I picked up full print runs of Makoto-chan and Super Mario Kun, and it wouldn't be hard to do the same for Dame Oyaji. My office has a fantastic scanner, and I can make scans of these titles and make them available to anyone who wants to translate them. I'm not sure what I can offer in return other than English proofreading for those or anything else you/your group is working on.

Again, sorry if this kind of inquiry is unwelcome. Thanks for the work you all do. From an historical perspective this scale and size of the translation communities here is unheard of!

So, in summary, you'd like to have a translated version of Makoto-chan and Super Mario Kun so you're offering the raw material (the scanned pages of the series) and your skills as a proofreader, right? Then you can try forming a group to have it done, someone to translate it from Japanese to English and someone else to edit the pages (redrawing + typesetting) would be plenty. Some people do that for series they'd like to read (or have edited for others to read) by creating a thread here, what cannot be done here is asking someone to do it for you (in other words, commissioning). This place is intended to help people forming teams and offering a place to upload it, not some kind of freelance (paid or not) site to ask for services.
