Doesn't this chapter basically suggest that Shizuko will never marry?
I mean, while done out of jealousy and per the gender roles of the time, the ladies were basically calling Shizuko a man. Follow that up with how Oda is setting her up with an adopted son... Poor Tadakatsu-san... ;w;
I can totally see why Oda is taking this approach; it will allow Shizuko to keep fulfilling tasks the way she has been, which is honestly more useful to him than having her become a housewife. Plot wise, any story beats that could be hit by Shizuko building a family have already been covered by our questionable Ojisan. Also, Honda Tadakasu's crush on our intrepid lass has been treated more as a reason for his loyalty or a joke than an actual plot point that needs to be addressed. Poor guy. ;w;
Since we really haven't seen anything from Shizuko regarding her thoughts on the matter, I guess she's married to agriculture.
There is the fear that if she marries and has children, her husband would have a lot of control over Shizuko.
Even with the absurdly large "considerations" made for her, there are some things that would give rise to questioning.
She has been adopted by Konoe, which was an agreed-upon thing between Oda and Konoe, because it gives a lot of political protection to Shizuko.
But with marriage... well... that is a whole other can of worms.
By making Shizuko adopt his son, he will somewhat close certain possibilities... but only to an extent, I mean... there is no shortage of elder sons "disappearing" because someone favored a younger one, or the son of a concubine, or some shit like that.
But with his recently gained power and growing influence, that is still a massive power play, because if someone does want to marry her, there is a very clear "veiled" message... she may be married to another family... but she belongs to Oda, and attempts of theft will be dealt... accordingly.
