looking at how fast this is going, it'll prolly end in 20-30 chapters
We'll need to wait until we have some worldbuilding going, so far we know next to nothing about this setting. I just hope it doesn't incur in the usual tropesReading this it makes it sound like magic is almost non-existent or at its most basest forms for even the nobility. So they just never tried seeing if maybe the mana overload could be managed by him using magic repeatedly?
Seems like the father just dumped him in a bed and moved on to the brother immediately. Now he's probably the only one with enough mana to blast out these high power spells which will likely prolong his life.
Gotta leave your seed behindYona: Look, if this overwhelming magical power disease has cut my life down to a single year, the least it can do is help me impress a girl.
"I've been given one year to live because I'm so OP, but since I'll become even more OP it's OK!!!"Yona: Look, if this overwhelming magical power disease has cut my life down to a single year, the least it can do is help me impress a girl.
He's been taking medicine for it. That means it's not like they never tried anything. They knew enough to know what it is and even have a prescription for it. But just like cancer, there's no cure. This whole mana overload or whatever thing never made much sense to me. If you have too much mana, learn (ancient) magic and fire off explosions or Dragon Slaves every night.
And I know they don’t have gene therapy… I think, but at least try to eat a dragon’s liver. Or some fairy dust. Or even learn healing magic and become wizard Deadpool.
All that aside, I hope this comes out more frequently. It seems interesting.
Maybe for one doctor in one kingdom. I’m hoping his journey will lead to a more fantastical treatment. He's been taking medicine for it. That means it's not like they never tried anything. They knew enough to know what it is and even have a prescription for it. But just like cancer, there's no cure.
The interesting thing is that this idea of "mana overload" isn’t new. I’ll have to give a bit of a spoiler here, but I’ll try not to reveal anything critical. In the LN/Manga Ascendance of a Bookworm, the heroine, Myne, has exactly the same illness. In Ascendance of a Bookworm, commoners born with this disease end up dying, while nobles have access to magical items that can "absorb" this excess mana. In other words, in Ascendance of a Bookworm, the heroine also can’t solve her mana overload problem just by using magic. She needs to use magical items for that. But in this manga, it seems that in this world there isn’t anything similar to solve the problem, since the MC is already a noble. This whole mana overload or whatever thing never made much sense to me. Yeah, that one I felt a bit more understanding towards, but she still fought hard to find a work around (I'm a bit behind in the series, though). The interesting thing is that this idea of "mana overload" isn’t new. I went to a more darker place. Like the dad is blaming the son for his wife's death, and the sickness is just another reason why he doesn't want anything to do with him... Bastards, cripples, and broken things.Reading this it makes it sound like magic is almost non-existent or at its most basest forms for even the nobility.
