The only reason this is welcome news to me is that the anime was a much better experience (and why I started reading the manga to begin with). They couldn't get away with the lazy presentation in anime form, so they actually had the characters interact more and look alive.

There's 2 layers to it.

The first is indeed about being homeless and starving, these are war refugees.

The second is just the level of 'luxury' to the meal, they are mostly peasants so this sort of feast would be something they rarely get to experience not to mention they are newcomers who hasn't really shown any value to receive such favorable treatment from their view.

yeah it was something that happen on repeat in the novel with how many time MC attempt to put Village's guest at same VIP table and all of them that wasn't ancestor or dragon just shit themselves(with demon king always be the victim).
manga did remove some of those bit thou. like the chapter where hikaru just return from hot spring search trip and Doriam is just weirdly happy to see VC. Is explain in novel


i am going to summarize it cause i really love that chapter.
MC/VC gone from village and left Alfred to be temporary leader, this of cause, motivate everyone to work harder cause they didn't want to have trouble during Alfred rule and depress the kid.

The problem is that Doriam just happen to visit village chief during his absence and nobody told him
to make it more funnier is that, as we all know, the trip just happen to include everyone that can talk to dragon.

So every resident that left in the village just doesn't know what to do with him and just give him food silently while Doriam also just doesn't know what happening cause no one tell him anything.

so we have
-village resident that afraid of offend the dragon. and cause trouble to alfred.
and
-dragon that afraid of cause trouble to village chief's people.

it just left everyone tense all the time till VC come back.

but this part wasn't in a manga as far as i am aware.

World killers are below their notice, those are the type of small-fry his wives command on the outside of the village, everyone at that table during the banquet can do a lot more than just kill a world. Any one of those Ancient dragons could probably scour the surface of the world with their fire, and the wives of the two dragon kings could probably tear the world in half with their bare hands, each.

This has fallen pretty deep into a rut of: festival ->new residents -> have another kid. They need some kind of adversary or a global conflict to change things up. Seems like they started some exploration a while back a found a cursed or evil god pillar at one point and that just completely evaporated. Even if it is a slice of life, deeper strife than who wins at jenga or a friendly martial arts tournament keeps things interesting.

Why are you here? Isn't there another Jojo series you should be reading instead of complaining that a comedy slice of life has no action or drama. Why do people like you keep asking why this apple isn't an orange?

First off I think Jojo is steaming garbage and never understood its appeal. Second, I was merely stating that some strife makes things interesting. I'm not asking for manhua levels of aura farming every other panel with no actual story development, just something to change it up. This title is 274 chapters in and the last 200 chapters have been virtually the same. Other slice of life titles show some form of struggle because it is a part of life. Finally there is zero reason to attack me personally for expressing an opinion on what could keep the content interesting.

still, my point is that even among village resident, they still scare of dragon. cause this one i am sure,there was a moment where civil servant girl is all tense up, cause there is no one in village left to instruct the dragon when there is a job come though and hikaru is busy elsewhere i think. i kinda confuse and mix two event together.

I should have say things in a calmer manner, but it get frustrating having to said the same thing over and over again. I am not sure how you read 274 chapters and haven't got the vibe of this series yet. Just injecting strife doesn't automatically make thing interesting, that kinda of thought is what give rise to "third act syndrome" where a gag comedy character suddenly trauma dump on the audience or a villain suddenly show up and mutilated characters. It leave a bad taste to the core audience, and can feel like a straight up betrayal if handle terribly. This is a series where an evil god got accidentally purified into a cat. People come here to read about a spider name "sofa/couch" that can toe to toe the dragon king, but love knitting, potatoes, and her thousands of kids, also has the most adorable wave gesture for a spider. This is an orange, stop trying to make it taste like apple.

I would say it isn't exactly repetitive because progression is being made with the status of the village. It is not at the level of "monster of the week", but its very chill and slow pace definitely feel like it traversing the same ground due the long release schedule. My stance when it come to fan wanting more with a series is that rather than asking a series to change, find another series that feed that need. Manga is extremely prolific compare to other publication medium. Failing to find it? Dip a toe into the fan fic is an option many take to scratch their very specific itch.

To follow up with the metaphor, considering how much this series had shrunk in chapter length. This a fruit cup... For toddler. This is maybe one floor up from a comic strip or 4-koma. So I don't think a salad is the right expectation here. This is a quick read for some good vibes.
