I'm actually a little bit surprised that her absurd body shape actually causes problems, especially in acquiring equipment. Her absurd luck failed her.

Makes the setting feel a little more real though.
Not really? Boobs aren't made of rocks and will deform properly. Most women can use normal proportioned ones used by males, though hers was a little extreme, it won't be a problem with a little adjustment. It's a fantasy setting that forces boob armor and exaggerated protrusions on the boob area. It's a thing that's accepted by pop culture, but in reality the latter not used in history aside from aesthetics purposes. Kinda like that codpiece with the erection built in.

Less boobplate, and more Big &Tall store/irl large bra issue. Custom armor (short+a little wide) and well fit supportive garments costs extra money.

Even if it realistically wouldn't be THAT much more, compare that with having to make gear for an individual with the gear that fits anybody and everybody because... handwave. In a setting that is explicitly based on a video game, making gear that covers the body need to be made for that body feels less divorced from reality, I think.

If we're going with plate, it is usually custom-made to whoever was gonna wear it. There's no such thing as a plate armor that'd fit anybody and everybody. So in this case, it won't cost any more to create hers than a regular-sized person. If we're going with less constricting options, those are far easier to modify. And are usually done anyway upon purchase. Kinda like you could have your pants length adjusted before buying. It's artificial detail, but it actually subtracts from the world. Handwaved options are usually preferable since it's not susceptible on these types of nitpicking (which, it is, I admit). It just opens the gates, y'know?

True, I imagine its a balancing act of trying to give enough justification that has a smell of logic without stringing along enough detail to hang yourself with your own rope.

In this case, most people wear mass produced goods irl except those of exceptional wealth or form, so unless they have some proper knowledge of the subjects at hand, its "good enough" for a flyby. Or so it seemed to me.
