I recall a past post quite a number of chapters back that he never meets back up with the Princess. Is that still true? This last chapter giving off vibes as if the mangaka wants to get them back together somehow. I mean, even the character early on in the manga when she left the island said himself that he wouldn't want to be together with her as he would most likely be nothing more then a concubine amongst who know how many others. Has the manga diverged from the source any so far?

Also worth remembering that the staff was secure behind a magic lock, and magic is supposed to be limited to women, so even the people who know MC entered the building where the staff was last seen would probably still consider him beneath suspicion.

exactly. There are countless reasons why he would not be a suspect. Now him clearing a dungeon, and then running away is certainly suspicious, but I don’t think they would connect it to the missing staff.
