You're actually closer than you think. You have no idea the amount of hoops this story is going to go through with new girls, when we all know who he's going to end up with. I honestly hate writing like this with my entire being. It just screams that the author doesn't know how to progress the relationship between Itsuki and Hinako naturally and instead needs to rely upon jealousy.

To all those who want a harem ending and for those who want Mirei to win, don’t fucking worry. The story hasnt “ended” yet, but as of volume 10, he has like 6 girls in total in love with him, Mirei included. She’s one of the leading heroines in fact. Considering how much closer Hinako is to Itsuki, Mirei actually had a fair share of pretty damn good advances

Spoiler: Spoilers for next couple chapters and beyond

The father isnt actually a bastard. He and the mother care more about Mirei than anyone. It’s just that Mirei wanted to devote herself to them so much (because they adopted her) that she’s willing to get a fiance even against her own will if it’s to help her family. Itsuki managed to talk her out of it by bringing her on a date to the arcade. She will officially be the first person Itsuki brings out on a date, been to the house of (other than Hinako ofc, but technically Hinako’s house is his own) and can unironically compete pretty damn hard with Hinako. She’s only behind because she didnt confess outright to Itsuki unlike Narika, but that’s a whole other story.

Further spoilers: Itsuki fought hard to make Mirei student council president in the latest LN volume, even fighting through other competitor’s foul play. She is now in the lead as the main heroine because Hinako didnt even bother running for president and both will work together to organise the upcoming culture festival. So Mirei bros, don’t lose hope.

Also fun fact for asphyxiav in case you read this: Maid Shizune-San has her own route. I wont spoil it for you yet, but it actually comes up pretty late (vol 5+, and the manga is still in vol 2). But there is even hope for Shizune. Because Itsuki is THE ladykiller

Itll take a pretty damn long while, considering it’s about half the light novel, though there will be a few unique developments that wont make it that mundane of an arc. Still, it may just be a reason for us to bang our collective heads against the wall.

After this, Hinako will probably take 1 chapter to sniff Itsuki tf out because he went over to Mireis house and theyll eat together as compensation. Then the next chapter will be Mirei tutoring him and Narika interrupting before revealing the fiance thing. This may extend to 2 chapters. Then Itsuki probably takes about 1 chapter to process what she said while she gives him dance lessons and Mirei realises she’d feel lonely if the engagement went through and Itsuki would spend less time with her. This might also spread to 2 chapters. She then meets her betrothed and gets suspicious of Itsuki’s true identity. Itll likely take another 2 chapters for the two to duel and reconcile, and another 2-3 chapters for them to have their date. Fun fact, in the LN, we will not meet the fiance even once.

All in all, ETA of the fiance drama ending is 7-10 manga chapters, or about 8-12 months. I’m probably overestimating, there may be quite a lot to fit but in general manga chapters for this LN are pretty long. I have no idea why i spent 20 minutes of my life on this, but youre welcome

Mosshytranslations if youre curious about LN volumes until the latest which i believe is 10. We are less than halfway through volume 2. Unless the mangaka is hyper dedicated, i’m gonna be honest, i expect this manga to be axed before volume 10. Lets just hope the mangaka wont get burnt out eventually
