As this manga progresses on, more and more I feel that that the politics of the countries in this world is stupid.

They already have monsters, Oders, and Singularities to deal with, but they have time to screw over the people who can protect it. We've been told that these idiotic countries have treaties with one another, but they're showing that's not the case with this fights.

I know that we'll eventually know that either someone is manipulating the leaders, or the leaders themselves are evil, but show that each of the countries have tense relationships with one another.

I feel like we can already piece together what's going on from what we've seen, and I wouldn't really worry about the author trying to go this route tbh (although the Pansylvanians may try to initially brush it off like that, once Akira wrecks their shit). Remember, we know they created the Oder, we know they did it by making a cursed stone that they sacrifice people to, they're straight up evil.

But the other thing is that we know from back in Chap 112, they're researching to create the ultimate hero. So yeah Pansylvania is testing Akira here, and they're harming his friends to intentionally enrage him into using his power, but it's not something they expect to just be able to play off as being friendly afterwards, they're most likely just attempting to analyze him to reproduce+steal his power, and then they can try to dispose of him once they get their data.

Which is what I assume has already went on with Duke Emilio (+some of these controlled bodies they're fighting atm which are also using hero skills). It's not really his own power/secret to steal skills, he's just a prototype product of the hero skill duplication research Pansylvania's already completed.
