If it was converting lifespan, it seems to me nobody would be so deeply afraid of it. After all, the user would perish quickly enough, most likely.

The duke mentioned that whenever he used Souls to use one of the Hero's techniques, it was costing him three years of his lifespan. That drawback of Akira using Soul is negated thanks to Aria's blessing(I do love how she was laughing her ass off seeing everything while staking her claim as being the only who can truly take care of Akira).
But, there was some warning from that chaos goddesss about continously over-using that power, and with Akira now conciously able to wield Soul, who knows.

Quite literally yea she's connected to Akira through her blessing which is why she's shown to be able to see everything going on and was taunting his cousin for underestimating her

All these past 6 (if not more) chapters where the characters kept prattling on and on, saying the same things we've read 3 or four times in the last arc, could have been condensed into one.
This tells me that the writers is stalling for time, and the artist can do naught but cover for him.

Aria is one of the Shadows, and the one that ended some war between the goddesses. That said, this all seems to be some sort of experimental environment created by an advanced civilization (If you look at the author's other works, that's what seems to be the case anyway). My guess is that Aria and the goddesses are copies or projections of the administrators from that civilization.
