I think it has to do with his previous party members deciding to burn the world to a crisp if he dies again. And him dying would be from Cross doing his usual things in a fatal situation. That's just my guess.

destruction might not mean actual destruction, it could mean the destruction of the current state of the world and building a new one, specifically one where demons and humans get along
