I mean, that's kinda the thing.
I feel like the reader has to expect for the MC to somehow use a clever spell of some sort, and maybe compound her strength on top of it, to destroy the target.
I expected dirt or fire to be conjured (due to the interference, it's really small and fizzes out quickly), and then just throw it really, really hard at the target. Strong enough to circumvent the problem.
The way the MC solved it, you'd expect the principle to go: "uh, no, you need to use a spell, not your body. Redo it."
