It is not that Serena is heartless. She just loves to fight.
With these being the strongest assassins sent after him so far, it definitely doesn't look seem like you can just say "haha the employer is poor and therefore harmless". Instead this shit just screams "they're gaining capital". I wonder if there will be a full blown civil war at the end of the arc when the king's son manages to get even more power.
The Sam Vimes Theory of Contract KillingThese assassins are like my shoes, I can't afford a good pair so I just keep paying for bad ones that get used real fast. Don't skimp on assassins folks, it's just more expensive in the long run.
That's only while Shagard was a guest here. He was getting attacked back home without any interruptions and their quality has grown since then, which means the capital of his dad also has. Unless these assassins aren't from him, but we've been given no reasons to think otherwise. No, they've been sending assassins of this 'quality' since before.
As Serena said (and shown to us readers) previously Serena side just handled them without Shagard knowing.
Just a side story about how Rosemary been doing.Just wondering, do the spoiled adopted sister and the shitty 2nd prince return in the story?

Instant gratification just makes the story shorter. Reduces enjoyment of the buildup, the inevitable outcome, and reduces the story flow to bullet points, discarding the rest of the content.Too bad I expected more blood and gore from the duel. Guess you can't have nice things especially when others are around.
I don't recall him mention any assassination attempt back in his country, care to point out where that was mentioned?
For one, having his death happen in their own country would clearly point the suspicion to them, so they could've just held back on going full assassin until now.
Similar to how the overall scheme here is to make the twins cause problem in another country, so the king can disown them proper.
p5 top left: her ba-donk-a-donk be ba-donking
But please, get a different dress.. and that boob window assassin outfit is ridiculous
Chapter 21, Page 21. Prince Evan mentions assassination attempts, presumably in Shagard's home country.
Though I do wonder if they're hired specifically, or there is an open bounty that an Assassin Guild would take up. So, it could be a function of the bounty being high enough to tempt better assassins.
What the other guy said too, but it's literally in this chapter man. Page 15 and 17 mentions how these are the first whilst visiting and that they're the strongest he's ever met. Obviously meaning he has experience.I don't recall him mention any assassination attempt back in his country, care to point out where that was mentioned?

I feel like that's part of the "scheme" the king intends that the prince mentions as well? They're sending most of their armed support structure with them, to have their plans blow up in their face. He's depending on the ally kingdom to do their dirty work, and the security details. If any of the assassins get connected to the envoy group, it all explodes. So when all this blows up in their faces, the armed faction in the "palace" will also be disgraced all together as a group. Extremely dangerous type of plan, you would nominally want some supportive maids and less visible security to make sure nothing bad happens.Alright, I stand corrected then.
Though it's strange that he's alive then considering the very next chapter Serena noted how the whole envoy group are on twins' side so if they did send assassins at any point before now Shagard should've had 0 support, and clearly he wasn't strong enough to handle assassins until this point.
Hi, I'm sorry about the inconsistencies. As I said I was busy and didn't have much time. Translating schedule should stabilize from now on to about a chapter a month, because I caught up on raws.
Thanks for catching that, sometimes things like these slip by.p.16 panel 2-3, I don't think the first assassin nor the prince would say that. I think it's one of the standing assassins saying to rush down the prince like "get him."
p.17 panel 3, I think that's Serena talking about the prince's skill level from 2 weeks ago. The prince in that panel is not a flash back; although it looks that way because panel 2 is unshaded for the close-up narration.
