Various levels of want.

Shot himself in the foot.

"On the off chance I receive chocolate."
He sure is an MC.

Child support is for him, not for her. If she turns it down, he should get it, unless he also turns it down. Otherwise she's adding a financial burden on him because of pride.

"I'm sure Umi would tell me not to worry about it."
Worry or not, being able to handle a job interview is a skill you should probably learn, since it's useful for any kind of business related meetings. But that's also how to approach it. See it as a learning experience, not something you have to do perfectly. It's how you get better.

Being regular is a big plus.

Wanting money to hang out isn't unhinged. It's kind of a standard thing to use a salary for.

"I want to save up money to buy my girlfriend a gift."
"We don't hire SIMPS here. GET OUT!"
You're not a simp if it's your actual girlfriend.

1 That is not what child support is. Child support happens BECAUSE two people couldn't be together. If someone used that as a means to hold power over someone and as a way to worm back into a family, they're dumb and its obvious why they're divorced in the first place.

2. The dad has clearly moved on.

Japanese shared custody is very strict and only looks like western practices if the parents desire them to be. Most of the time its a clean cut where one parent keeps the child and the other loses all rights to see or interact with them. Its become more accommodating for both parties over time but that kind of clean cutting is still practiced and is clearly the base for this relationship.
He's still a scumbag so not sure why you are so keen on that, they dont need the money, your eyes are just seeing dollar signs

You don't know why people are given Child Support. You don't know the burdens of taking care of a child. And you can't read. Its his mother's choice to accept it or not and I never criticized that. I just gave an explanation on why this Japanese manga would handle this situation the way that it did.

I kinda prefer the LN's artstyle over manga tbh, though its mostly me having a hard time seeing Onsen (V5) and beyond with the manga's cutesy artstyle. 😅

Though the chibis are no doubt great.
even then I might stick to the manga style xD...

You need to reread he never cheated, secondly child support is a court mandated payment to look after the child not for the mother to use for her self I don’t know Japanese law but elsewhere to make any decision or change to the child support money you need approval of a judge first
more than the law, socially is way different.... in Japan is not that common the child to jumping around from each of the parents houses like it is on the west, they usually make the child chose one (or the judge) and they stay like this for 99% of the time....

and the manga didnt shove in everyone's face the reason but you can conclude that the father gave enough money to support them with the mother not requiring to work, just doing housework in mind, but the mother just didn't want to use the money for many reasons like pride and such...

And even the manga being very clear, dad didnt cheat on her, that relationship happened after. The subordinate liked him but never made any advances until she heard he was divorced, but bruh ahhahaha its so sad how ppl here just fill the gaps with anything they want in their mind like he cheated on her or smth.

and this is insane because this is just one of those cases that the couple was just lacking in communication that made the marriage worn off, and ppl still trying to put blames on ppl...

It is one of those cases that it just happened. They still liked each other, but couldnt stand the lack of communication and fights (and maybe lack of sex lol)

EDIT: just fixed a bit of the mistakes since ppl were liking it lol

I feel somehow this translate to real life so many divorced dads out there doing what needs to be done by they almost always vilified and assumed to have done the worst, an I talking from personal experience here with my own family people are too quick to judge and cause unnecessary harm

MC here is very honest and also Chad, buying a birthday present for Umi by working part-time :chad: and here we get announcement about anime adaptation:kreygasm:

thank you for translating
Anime adaption during Umi's birthday month. That can't be a coincidence. The information I just learned about a fictional character's birthday by reading this chapter that was recently uploaded by a wonderful fan team (thank you) also shares the month with the release of an anime adaption which I also just learned about. Clearly the universe is run by lizard people!

I wonder if the anime is going to cover the manga up until Umi's problem is solved or more accurately volume 1-3. Or is that too much or too little?

It's a talking point between the community tbh. It's either end at LN Vol 2 (about upto manga Vol 6) or LN Vol 3. The ideal is probably up to Vol 2 (Confession/Christmas Party) but kinda felt slow if they done that (imagine 6-7 episodes per volume adapted, unless they add some SS to justify it.) Though imo, anime will probably adapt up to LN Vol 3 (this current manga arc they're adapting).

They are straight cooking with that VA lineup
