Typically kids aren't going to have developed those kinds of urges by the age she appears to be (would guess its Elementary since no uniform which tends to be middle school upwards) so more likely she's gonna have a conflict.

out of context/if she wasn't with someone i'd think some ppl could also interpret it as a lesbian awakening too (it would be interesting if the author also made a bl/gl but prolly not within this story other than like a 3 way). Yes, it's extremely rare. But the consistent abuse at the young age can be a pathway to internal normalization of this behaviour and sexual awakening and discovery (especially if the abuse is still in the picture) in a more grown up age could lead to a S&M way.
