While I understand the idea of skipping a meal to avoid an awkward social interaction, girl was starving before she got there.
this appears to be a change from the LN, where she instead got her food while they were distracted by the lecture, and snuck off to a corner to finish it quickly before bolting

EDIT: overall, from reading the first volume, the manga seems to make her more timid in general

Oh no, trouble with the cocky and prideful prince incoming... It is a bit unfair though that she pretty much has two brains to take the tests with.

I know I've enjoyed comics where the low-ranked noble or commoner enters school with appreciation for basic luxuries, but the only one coming to mind is Observing Elena Evoy. Does anyone have suggestions for similar stories?

I'm kinda disappointed this turned into a magic school manga.

I don't like it when characters hate the MC for no good reason. I hope she's able to make friends.

She's either going to have her magic sabotaged by the insecure prince, or she's going to blow everyone's mind with the scale of her magic. Either or. :dogkek:
Watch as both my prediction are totally wrong, haha.

Having a magic stone in place of plumbing for a toilet must be convenient

A school arc at her age makes sense

Tho I can imagine as royals they'd look down on her for everyday magic/a declining family (Altho even in normal school settings there are those with inferiority complexes that'd hate someone for getting better grades shame that they seems to be public as opposed to performing magic in a field they can't hide)

If she passes all subjects and skips a grade, won't she just end up moving up a grade and not being able to go back home? Also, I'm unsure that just going home makes for a good school life, since networking is probably important between nobles and even talented commoners who may become influential.

She may be worried about passing practical magic, but from what we've seen her everyday magic is absurd.

There is a good reason though; they are nobility with high status and the pressure to demonstrate that they are worth that high status. They likely had good tutoring to prepare for school so being outdone by anyone is going to be hard to accept, especially since they undoubtedly put some effort into their studies since they were able to get excellent grades on several subjects. Their frustration is understandable.

What wouldn't be acceptable would be if they actually acted against her because of their frustrations and they haven't done that yet.

There probably will be some drama still, otherwise there wouldn't be much story to tell, but I don't think anything really bad. I mean, the prince is there in order to ground his personality so he will be lectured if he actually does anything stupid.
As for the count girl, we don't really know much about her yet, but as I mentioned, networking is important, so if there's a bright student it makes sense that she would want to get acquainted.

We'll just have to wait and see. Seems pretty fun to read for me.

I don't remember the LN in enough details, but it might just be that, at this point of the story, she's focusing on 1) avoiding the royals and 2) studying to skip a grade.

Yeah the task to avoid the royals really isn't going well. She's gotten Richard's attention briefly and Keith is going to be trouble.

Well, that Hugo guy shows that the Nobles are prideful but can still be nice. The MC might be seen as a threat until they understand her and her goals better. Probably just assuming she is competition/threatening to the higher ranks.

That's what I'm thinking.

"Congradulations on passing your first year courses; here's your new second year schedule. Oh, and you're now lab partners with the princess."
