He got the parents' approval, we are one step closer.
I'm not sure how I'd feel knowing that my work sold out but that did had nothing to do with the actual content but was just because a cute girl was selling it. Unless it's revealed that it became popular due to the reviews from the first buyers.
It's a reminder that works of art never exist in a vacuum. There is always a context around them that affects how they're perceived. The
Mona Lisa was considered one of Da Vinci's lesser works until it was stolen in 1911. The theft gave it a ton of publicity and ever since it's been the most famous painting in the Louvre. One of the most famous paintings in the world.
Directly across from the Mona Lisa is Paolo Veronese's
The Marriage at Cana. It's massive- 6.77m x 9.94m. A way more impressive painting than the Mona Lisa. But its biggest claim to fame is that it's overshadowed by the much smaller Da Vinci opposite it. If you ever go to the room, there will be dozens of visitors crowding the Mona Lisa with almost no one checking out the Marriage at Cana. Context!
Having a pretty girl to catch attention is sales 101. Same as making an eye catching cover, or getting a good booth position where a lot of people will see your table, or getting shared by an influencer online. None of which have anything to do with the actual contents of the book, but affect how people will perceive the contents.
We live in a world of biased perceptions.
