The end really feels near. At this pace, the series might end within the next 15 chapters.

Zahid’s good luck was always a rather overpowered ability, so it is only natural for him to be written out of the series. I am a bit surprised that it was done by him leaving rather than dying though. Zahid, and Oscar too, followed in Udo's footsteps and survived all the death flags they were setting up.

This felt like a perfect resolution for Zahid (whose luck finally served people other than himself AND he convinced Oscar to live for himself rather than other people), and an adequate one for Oscar (as I personally feel we should have seen more of his interactions with others, particularly the Pope).

Disappointed, but not surprised, about Kathryn dying so soon. I liked the nuance to her character, though, and she served as a great foil to Oscar. Both of them were completely obedient to their leaders, but while Kathryn’s devotion prevented her from running away and resulted in her death, Oscar decided to stop fighting and save himself.

Even their powers were opposite, with Kathryn making objects perform previous movements, while Oscar made them return to a previous state. And in proud series tradition, the flowering resulted in an absolutely ridiculous power, Oscar was reversing entropy itself there.

We still need more elaboration about why some flowerings are temporary, and others become permanent.

This chapter is strangely bittersweet.

I NEVER expected Oscar's flowering would lead to such power... but it makes a LOT of sense, he "immortality" was less about simple regeneration and more that he was rejecting the event happening to him.

Kathryn's ability too, really interesting, the ability to force a target to repeat an action it has done before, at first it sounds at most useful, but she showed that the "action" in question goes well beyond what is commonly percieved, and she could "reenact" earth rotation without flowering, sure it was in a specific target but even then, impressive.

The Pope is still an asshole, but considering his real intentions... I think he liked to let go of Oscar and Zahid, he did a lot of scummy things, but considering he was already planning on betraying the rest of the futurists, he is fed up with this shit situation as much as everyone else.

That was a chapter difficult to watch uuuuuuhhh my heart almost gave up, even after the fight I thought something else might happen to them out of nowhere, they escaped but the entire city was destroyed, it's all so tragic even in hope

OSCAR MY GOAT. Farewell king. The two of them 100% die though. Ain't no way the pope is letting their abilities go, especially Oscar's ability with Zoe's having yet to join the frontlines yet and fighting anyone super powerful. No way Pope doesn't order their assassination; my guess is that it's the star corps (or whatever they're called) that does it. Hell, Pope probably saw this coming with his future sight.

Honestly, I’m kinda curious where Demi lies in all this. She doesn’t really have much going on, character-wise. Her brother’s dead, she already had her mini-arc in that one chapter with the serfs, and in terms of relationships with other characters, she’s weak on all fronts. I don’t really know where her character could go from here, as she’s largely been relegated to the pope’s personal telescope.

Much as I love it, the story sort of needs to end in the next 15 or so chapters. All the mysteries have been revealed. No reinforcements or room for persuasion left on either side. All that's left is seeing who dies and how.
