This seems very stupid of the conspirators here.
The tower dude might get a pass on the stupid prize. He had a tower as legacy, but was not directly involved with gods and country management. His challenging Kosuke's identity as a living god was only possible because of the backing from the other two important figures.
However, the king and priest should, and actually did know better than to meddle with divine authorities. There was a very famous example that was supposed to serve as a lesson, and the priest in particular was directly involved in communicating with the gods. They consciously chose to ignore this.

In a world where gods, or at the very least beings powerful enough to name themselves as such, are demonstrably real and important for the very survival of countries as a whole, it was really braindead-level stupid to attempt to dictate how gods must conduct themselves.
At most, the king and tower manager doubting Kosuke's divine nature would be one thing, possibly barely getting tolerated. For them to put rules on gods, and for the priests to repeatedly ignore divine warnings, this was just too much to be really plausible.

All this comes before I add a small reminder that the founding of the temple in this tower was blessed by all three major goddesses summoned in person by Kosuke in a very public event. Even if was not actually a god, he was close enough with the major powers in the divine realm.

And then we add the other events that demonstrated Kosuke's power and relation to other gods. The tower laser and shield, the emissaries, the oracles to multiples temples... or even the basic fact that he conquered all the towers on his continent in a short time frame. I'm not saying he's above being challenged in some way, but going head-on as they did was just dumb.

In the end, this punishment was indeed pretty lenient as far as I can tell. Nobody is to directly die: the ships can be evacuated, the tower manager will be disowned and the country can forge bonds with other temples. Only the ones directly involved in this challenge to divine identity and authority will be "unblessed". Any death at this point would be the result of further insanity.

Basically, villains too dumb to live.

So last page, all those goddesses are getting dressed up because they're all treating this "gods descend to announce this personally" as a chance to go on a trip and visit Kousuke?
Yeah, pretty much lol. Luckily for Kousuke they can't jump his bones and its restricted to just some skinship until Eris gives the ok.

I still don't know what the former priest thought he was going to get out of this. Like your temple was told about a living god and your idea is to denounce and defame him? For what?
it's hard to get in the mindset of the type of deadest-of-braindead idiots like we see in this series, but I imagine they were banking really, really heavily on him being a pushover due to the whole "was just a normal guy before coming to power very recently" bit.
I picture it going like this: you get used to being unopposed #1 fuckhead in your zone of influence, able to get practically anything you want in life, pretty much instantly, thanks to the power you've been abusing for (literally) god-knows-how-long, and even though you got divine communications saying "hey, cut that shit out" in the past, you were never actually stopped- let alone punished- and so become really, really confident that you can get away with whatever you want. Then you get a message that there's a new, living (aka formerly human) god with a bunch of goodies you want, you have no idea what being a "living god" even really entails aside from the fact that god = "gives blessings i guess" & living = "capable of dying probably", he wasn't a king or in any other position of power (probably not used to dealing with political pressure) until recently & the gods you've encountered so far haven't done jack shit to slow your roll no matter how debauched you act, and you've got your buddies of similar perceived authority in on your plan to come harass this literally-who former commoner, so what could possibly go wrong? One of said buddies is even sending a big fleet of ships & soldiers to come attack him & his country if you somehow fail to shout down this fucking peon, and surely someone who's just a regular human (probably) aside from the ability to, uh... whatever the fuck gods do besides send angry emails (ha!) and get you laid when you pretend to like them lmao (you have no idea!) can't fight off a whole fleet of ships, that's ridiculous! He'll get crushed, the "living" part of the "living god" title will be removed, meaning he'll go to whatever dumbass place the rest of the gods are stuck in where they can't do anything to you any more, and then you've got his tower full of treasure all to yourself now! It's a perfect plan!

Or something like that.
(That got more long-winded than intended, but the mental gymnastics required to make these chucklefucks' decisions seem reasonable in any way whatsoever kept forcing me to do yet another backflip each time even a speck of logic crept in, lol)

Honestly, I won't be surprised if it's revealed soon that this country received a different divine message about the new god in town than most other countries did, subtly encouraging these idiots' stupid line of thought as retribution for their years of ignoring the gods' will despite the fact they received very generous "stop being assholes" requests instead of the immediate meteor strike they seem to deserve, lol.

This seems very stupid of the conspirators here.
For me it hinge on the "act" of "behaving like a God" part.
While the Oracle of the Living God probably reached everyone, Kousuke did "nothing" as a Living God for his "people" really, and therefore doubt the Oracle.
I suppose if when the 3 Goddesses announced his ascension and he "blessed" the land and a pretty tree appeared it would at least symbolize it, but the idiots "only" have the words of the Goddess.
As someone pointed out, since both the King ang the Priest are up to debauchery and never got pushback, it must have fed their egos.

On the other hand Kousuke both has a blessed Temple and a Priestess, that alone should have made them think...

I'm pretty sure they had a suspicion but nothing tangible, hiding their identities indicates they wanted to avoid trouble in case Kousuke had real power but I think the temptation won this round.

"But how did you know that much...?"

You really gave no fucks about who you were dealing with, didn't you? Not even enough to pay attention to the reach of their information network or senses, which they clearly displayed in that very conversation.

Not so much the temptation I think, as their arrogance. They gave in to temptation long ago, which is what inflated their egos and made them feel they were in an unshakeable position of power. But the foundation of even that was dependent on the blessings of the Gods, and not being called out. Welp, the Gods themselves had enough of their bullshit, and came knocking.

RIP BOZOS:dogkek: ...All things considered, this was pretty soft compared to how "divine retributions" are usually carried out, so they should actually thank their lucky stars Kou was the one to decide.

I mean, are we assuming the whole country is bad? What about the people? If nobles are corrupt, what about the commonfolk? Do they deserve to be wiped off the world too, just because their king is a dumbass?
IMO, you can throw these 3 to the masses and let them deal with the scum that almost killed them all.....but erasing the whole country seems a bit too much
The common folk of that country would be free to let the royal family and that bishop know much they are unhappy about them picking on the LITERAL AND PRESENT deities of the world and fucking up their lives. Unfortunate, but a point need to be sent

But apparently there are at least two about entire empires getting destroyed.
Btw, isn't this story really messed up. Like, OK, Empire was blasphemous, sure. Empire continue its way for a long and nothing happens, only reinforcing their beliefs that Gods aren't necessary at all. It all continue, until, without warning, Gods become pissed and go "Aktualy, you can't exists without Gods, bye!". Like maybe a warning?

I think Eris said something about the dumbass head priest already received a warning about it by oracle but, and I quote, "Dominic (the head priest) and the others ignores those warning" "And spread convenient lies in the world, using the name of the gods to manipulate peoples heart."

So yeah, they had it coming really.

I just wanted to point out their "caution", the king and priest weren't announcing themselves and used the tower master as a scapegoat.
