Mangadex to purge titles for legal reasons

So you can stop bitching that the staff are protecting themselves. Does it suck, yes, but it's more of an annoyance to me than anything else, just like the DMCA nuke last year. Nope, because they REMOVED DELETED titles post namicomi aquisition. They lied heavily about DMCA because they were already deleting titles they didnt like back then.

if you have any sources of suspicion except 'they delete', you should post it, this is like trying to escalate drama where it shouldn't be, iirc there's listing of the deleted titles, give me a title you think it's removed unfairly

Keep in mind that the one who made the statement has not appearing again (at least as of page 45) in this thread, and is still on the mod team.

I don't think you have any common sense on how ANGRY people behave, removing EtherealNeko from the equation right now is a correct move, that's why there's no further post from EN

also, that's ADMIN, even if EN would be removed from admin position, it's kinda need a lot of other admins to do conference call, it would never be fast enough for us who keep sticking to the thread like this

I'm willing to pay to support anything that provides value to me, be it MD or otherwise. I mostly use MD for titles that don't or won't have an official TL(or one that doesn't suck), and for discovery and comments on ones I have purchased. I used to have a CR account right up until they deleted the comments, now I use alternate sources, both legal and otherwise. At the same time, I understand that not everyone has the financial ability to do this, as your personal life comes first.

That was mainly aimed at the sky is falling crowd, and I imagine several of them were complaining during the DMCA purge last year as well.

Seeing this very late.
Is there a way to export your followed list? I'm having trouble finding it but I know (or I think) back in the day I used it to migrate from the dying bato.to to MangaDex. So might as well do it again to migrate from the dying to MD to... wherever else.
Some of the series I'm following seem very elligible to a purge (in technicality even GochiUsa could be) and who knows if any have fallen already.

Also subscribing to how laughable it is that a piracy site is citing "legal reasons".

Can't believe I missed this discussion until now... well, here's my two cents.

First, I agree that this purge is a bad idea and with a justification that doesn't make sense. Loli and shota content is much less illegal than the pirated content that fills this site. I also agree that EtherealNeko should be punished for their first post in this thread, as any normal user would.

Second... this thread has really made me pity forum moderators. On top of the insults and (thankfully rare) threats, there's been so many weird tangents about countries*, sexuality, religion etc.

*: the ones about Australia actually made me laugh, especially the occasional insults. Have any of those commenters ever been here?

Stop the misinformation. Titles being removed depict sexual activity between characters that are minors, either in appearance (handled on a case-by-case basis) or confirmed in the dialogue. It's about law and compliance with it. If you jerk it off to little kids, go and do it elsewhere; there are sites that specialise in that.

There are 3rd party tools and some other suggestions that can be found on the forums that will allow you to export your library

The large DMCA take down (aka the great purge) only affected chapters, to the best of my knowledge. If there were in fact titles deleted I would like to know which ones.

One of the things that irked me about this whole fiasco was that the title pages themselves were being removed.

if this whole issue will be resolved in an appropriate way* i will go and resubscribe over on Namicomi like i did for the past 20 month.
(at least If thats possible : as of now my canceled pledge is marked as active, i cant cancel it again and i keep getting emails that the pledge cant be renewed because of insufficient funds/ coins)
