I really like Mahiru so much. Her friendship with the MC feels incredibly sweet and sincere. What makes it even cuter is how neither of them overthinks how close they are or how naturally kind they are to each other. They just sit together, share food without hesitation, and genuinely enjoy each other’s company like it’s the most normal thing in the world. It’s such a simple dynamic, but that’s exactly what makes it so heartwarming. Picturing that a partner is indeed a good friend, i can't stop rooting for her

I'm probably the only person who pulls for the Sora/Miya pairing... but early on in this series, I preferred Mahiru, and they still remind me of my favorite pairing in Gamers! (another series written by this author), including pairing up in a "Game of Life" ripoff, their poor grasp of distance between each other, and insisting that they're just buds when it looks like anything but to the people around them.

Unfortunately Mahiru has too big of a late start in the race to win even if she’s bestest girl.

I'd disagree , she has so much natural chemistry and time spend with him any of the interests this includes her sister . Being childhood friend and this much chemistry and not being tsundere makes a strong candidate if she just locks in . Arguably the dark horse of the series like yotsuba was in TQQ
