It's like Tatsu retroactively trying to make it a thing because every parallel i've seen people are making to justify them is just head cannon levels of nonsense. Which happens a lot with manga readers for some reason. They fill the blanks with delusions instead of calling it what it is. If the story itself fails to deliver the context due to incompetence, you can be sure someone in the comments will, with their fanfic.

What i dont really understand is

Umbrella Yokai = Hansel and gretel

Momo's psychic power = Alice

Alice cause she got trapped in the wonderland? and got shrinked by it(?)

Hansel and Gretel probably cause its siblings?

The only ones i see fitting are Snow White (dwarves) and maybe Little Mermaid (singing), but the rest need huge stretch of tof

Most of the powers being random Japanese yokai folklores was a huge part of the charm but now they were apparently given by these people and somehow have western fairy tale theme despite originating in Japan? Idk the only way i could see this work if they were apparently just bunch of nerds who tried to give cool western names to yokais they find useful.

That's a fair point. I guess it's possible that Saint Germain found yokai powers that were similar enough to the fairytales so that Fairy tale card (the yokai) would recognize them as such? That way they're still operating within a yokai framework I guess. In any case they said they needed 6 cards, and dandadan seems like it's based on 8 (wheel of dharma I guess) so I'm hoping this isn't THE dandadan, just an imitation and we'll move on from this fairy tale stuff in the next part.

I don't think that's what's happening here. My take is that St. Germain is looking for powers from persons with stories that resonate with the fairy tales from the card, so drawing parallelisms between our characters's backstories and the western fairy tales.

Some are more obvious than others: Momo is Alice because of her memory loss and size reduction arcs; Zuma could be Hansel & Gretel because of the story of him and his little brother facing adversity? Rin is The Little Mermaid from her love for singing; and Yukishiro is obviously Snow White, ner name put backwards (Shirayuki) literally means "Snow White", she faced troubles online for her "beauty" (spicy photos) and was saved by the pygmies who willingly help her.
If you notice, nothing in these parallelisms comes from their supernatural powers.

For the other two remaining ones: Pinocchio must be Jiji, he's the lying boy that teased Momo while in reality he liked her, and is always lying with his dork facade in front of others; the Little Red Riding Hood though, not sure how Aira would fit that one (perhaps in that she once strayed from the right path and became a nasty self centered bitch, now she's learned her lesson and is back in the right path as the good girl she once was?)
Vamola and Sakata have no supernatural powers, both use tech so they have nothing to steal in the first place. Okarun? No idea, no longer has Turbo Granny and I don't know much about his newfound power.

• These villain characters are very thinly drawn, given how much they're on screen.
• The pacing on the last two chapters had a very "we've been dragging this out, now we need to rush" feel to things.\

All-in-all, this manga seems to be having a pretty hard fall-off.

I did like the random appearance of the version of The Gates of Hell that's in Japan though.

and then the mangaka just gave random bull-sh!t names to random bull-sh!t powers :

* a big long invisible hand = alice in wonder-land aka ****er-land ??????

* 2 japanese umbrellas = the europe story hansel and gretel ???????

i do not see the connections .

and i guess pinocchio 's power is : when im telling lies , my "morning wood" becomes more longer , more bigger , more harder , lol .

and the mangaka is watching too much disney kiddy cartoons , lol .

a reminder : the last appearance of zuma is : ugly old grandma left zuma at the shrine , then she used a taxi to go to the castle , to fight smoke bastard .

the mangaka is treating zuma , one of the main characters , like an orange : the mangaka squeezes the juices out of zuma , then when zuma has no juice/no usefulness left , the mangaka just throws him into a trash can .
