Given that they're 10, some of these jokes are a little off-putting. But it's funny and I like the dynamic being set up. Just, if the author wanted to make "lets go to the bed", "don't lay a hand on her", "I didn't mean to interrupt your intimate activities" style jokes, maybe he should have made then 16-18 instead of 10?

tbf this is most likely a culture where having a harem means better status or its just normal. In our world monogamous relationship is the norm for the most part anyways, which is why how yanderes look at relationships will probably be different

There are real life poisons that are ingestible that take 4 hours to show symptoms. And of course there can always be some magic fantasy poison that can take even longer.

Whoever poisoned her either have a reason to be so hasty, or they are just plainly stupid. Maybe they feel like the Yakuza are closing in on their identity so they made a last ditch attempt? Perhaps they were targeting him instead this time, hoping he would only notice after he tasted it and will be too affected to make the cure? Or perhaps I'm just thinking too much and it is really just idiocy.
