The deletion feature is already being rolled out it seems for some people. From the looks of it, the history is still a thing for these users, very unlike what happened in V3 with their deleted members. Though maybe it's a process and slowly the profile will have all their stuff purged.

I disagree, but I was hoping they'd at least make it so you can't check the history of deleted users like V3.

I tend to agree that the messages themselves not being deleted is a good thing - if that happened, it would really knock holes in threads (and if the OP got deleted, does that remove the entire thread?). But yeah, it would be good if each message had a different 'user number' assigned to it - perhaps hash the message itself somehow and use that? Otherwise you can pretty easily reassemble the entire post history of the account.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to wander on over to that thread and see how things are progressing. I have a dollar that says a surprisingly small number of those accounts are actually going to get marked as deleted.

I believe there won't be any actual deletion yet, I think that guy was a special case since he was banned on the main site and couldn't do it himself.
