Again only conjecture. We don't know how or why her dad died yet.

We also don't know the extent of the other entities abilities or actions. Just because most seem to wander harmlessly does not mean this thing is unique in harming humans as the default. In fact we've seen some who casually cause illness unprovoked and the shrine god seeks out sacrifices (it also can physically affect humans, just like your reaper). It might very well be that what this thing does is just a question of how powerful and overly malicious an entity is.
We'll have to agree to disagree then. For me, the fact he carriers a scythe makes a pretty strong indication of what he is. Also the fact it tried to kill Miko and most likely killed her dad, etc. Again, you're free to think what you will. You don't have to agree with me. But I see sufficient evidence to justify my take.

You seem to misunderstand: my argument is not that you're wrong. You might be right, only time and chapters will tell. What I'm saying is that at this time you are merely speculating with very little circumstantial evidence to show for it. That itself is fine, but then you use that speculation to speculate about another thing, namely the power of an ability we know nothing about, other than that it allows to see otherworldy beings. Given the earlier explanation that said beings are fluid in how they are perceived, there's not even any reason to think there is any difference between her father's sight and hers. This is what I'm pointing out.

I'm speculating and you're speculating. That's all there is to it. And yeah, I do think Miko's ability to see is better than her dad, but not because she sees this thing as a creepy old dude and her dad as a creepy old woman. I think she can see better because she can see the scythe and her dad can not. The scythe is a tool, not part of this creature's body, so it can not be explained by the previous explanation of ghosts being fluid in how they are perceived. This is something new, and there's gotta be a reason the author drew this entity holding a scythe. So you think what you will but I'm sticking to my guns for now.

Where am I "speculating" exactly? How can I even speculate, when I don't make any affirmative statements, other than pointing out the lack of real grounding in yours?

I recall plenty of other entities that had "tools" being part of what they were. The chain guy, the drum thing in the tunnel, the axe guy on the train. How is this new? You're looking for special meaning where there needn't be one, based on a preconception. Even if you end up guessing correctly in the end, it's a fallacious way of thinking.

That's a dog!? I mean it's good we know Francois is actually good lol.

And I like the ongoing joke with Enoki's sidekick who kept downplaying him, "I'm sorry, Enoki-kun!"

This isn't a math test. I read manga to have fun, and I speculate to have fun. And sometimes a tiny hint is all a story gives you as foreshadowing anyway.

Besides, I don't care that you think my take is fallacious. I don't need your validation, at all.

That's fine. Just don't act as if what you're saying is rational reasoning and people who challenge it with simple logic are suddenly somehow "speculating" right alongside you.

You're the only one who argues opinions here though. Both me and others simply tried to make you understand that they have no rational grounding. Even if that were not true though, opinions are not born equal.

You and others? You're the only one arguing here. For me and others, having different opinions is not an issue. You're the only one making a competition out of this.

You've argued with others on a similar premise here, the difference is that they did not follow up after you doubled down. I suppose that means I have too much time on my hands, but that doesn't necessarily mean they respect your "different opinion" as much as you think. Besides, for someone who's not making a competition out of this, you're sure determined to deflect and pretend it does not matter what trail of thought lead to you holding that opinion, like it was somehow just as good as a logical one. All that despite insisting you don't need validation, on top of it.

I didn't argue. I expressed my opinion. Learn the difference. Also, they didn't follow up because they aren't asspained I disagree with them. You should learn a bit of that too.

I wasn't deflecting. I just don't think I need to explain myself further than I already did because I don't care what you think. Besides, clearly our standards for what kind of evidence you need to speculate are pretty different. For me, the fact he carries a scythe is already pretty sus, because generally a scythe symbolizes death. It would be odd, storytelling-wise, to add that sort of imagery without that sort of meaning. Add to that the fact it's trying to kill Miko for seemingly not reason (and most likely killed her dad), and that's more tham enough for me to speculate he's a reaper or an entity of similar nature.

But like I said, our stadards are clearly different so that probably isn't good enough or logical enough to you or whatever, and that's fine. But that's not my problem.

You're doing it right now, on both counts. Rather agressively too, since you can't seem to limit yourself to going after ideas and reasoning, boldly skirting personal attacks territory instead. Again, not something you'd expect from someone who doesn't care what I think nor wants to make a competition out of this.

Firstly, speculating does not need evidence, that's why it's called that and why I used that word. If there's actual noteworthy evidence then you're hypothesizing. Secondly, yes you've already said that and I clarified that while mostly based on preconceptions, there's not that much of a problem with the whole scythe angle if it were taken in a vacuum. It isn't though, it's accompanied by a litany of other similar guesses and all together you treat them as they it were evidence for yet another. The storytelling bit only seems "wierd" to you because you're assuming it's the kind of story to go there - baselessly, as the supernatural creatures shown are pretty much unlike any in other media and don't follow the kind of patterns seen in folklore. Every entity's actions and motivations so far have been just as unknowable and we've already established there are others that do harm or kill unprovoked.

Might be the same spirit but attached to slightly different folklore/urban legends. Dad's generation had a weird old lady, Miko's generation has the plain man, etc.
I chalked it up to either
A.) Their powers get stronger as their bloodline gets older (aka Miko probably has a stronger ability than her dad to see the ghosts. Therefore she can see the plain man in his purest form, obviously before he unleashes it)

B.) Their power gets weaker further down the bloodline (aka Miko has a weaker power than her dad did and is seeing it in a less powerful form than what her dad can see)
