I can at least somewhat see how one could get the idea with me, that one is just completely silly.
In fact, this is how many people usually answer when someone says they don't like a series, quoting a defaultbro (jokingly):
b-b-but its yuri!
I mean, if a series is bad then it's bad, in this case unoriginal to the point the author repeats himself. The usual response when I write anything remotely negative in the first chapter (or title comments) of a yuri title is "then go elsewhere instead of raining in our parade".

To be fair, there are a lot of toxic communities where people just enjoy shitting on stuff. They can make people feel bad for liking something by saying that people who like X are just wrong or have bad taste (usually with a lot of colorful language).

Not saying you do those things and you're very much entitled to have and express that opinion, but in a digital world where negativity is often more rewarded than positivity, I can't blame people for wanting a safe space to express themselves with the things they love.

Point is: it's a balancing act where people from both sides need to respect each other's opinion, even if they don't agree with it. And that's not always easy. Especially online.

Aren’t you being too harsh? It’s the same author of The Anemone Feels the Heat, which is a perfectly decent yuri, imo :thonk:

I know people report for whatever and not even giving reasons many times (Bravedude used to show some reports as examples), but how did they link A with B? Next time they should just write "romcom hater", at least it'd be a logical answer.
Context: many authors switch from trends, that one in particular is originally a romcom light novel writer who moved to romcom manga and with yuri being trendy they wrote a single yuri series, plus few (at most three) one-shots in yuri anthologies (from the same magazine, of course, standard practice). Now, isekai/fantasy is still hot shit, so authors from any genre keep mixing their niche with generic isekai/fantasy (normally because the editors ask them to), this author is no exception.
I mean, some authors can be actually held back by the genre they are writing, like Negi Haruba, who before wrote a romcom, but his work afterwards feels so much better. Well, don't think it applies to that trend-chaser though, he doesn't sound like he writes because he wants to make his ideas real.

The Yuri fandom generally seems to be among those that have a slight cult problem inside it. Mixed with a bit of toxic positivity towards their genre.
Likely a result of haters without style (They don't even load guys into rocket launchers and lay "make the guys that want to kill guys that come in-between Yuri step on them and bonk themselves into the head with the shaft"-hoes around them), causing a defensive mindset, but it is pretty annoying still.
