Hix, what's going on, even though I've read all of WN and cried so much, every time I read a new chapter I want to cry again. This feeling is impossible to get used to. War should not happen anymore.
and yet here we are….

i like the reference to Head Medic's brother and holy shit i hated this chapter in the LN. it fucked me up reading it, and the adaptation did really well. Also, we're about to see Touri lock in for the first time

It does, we have the Geneva convention, media and all the things to make it at least a little bit less horrible, the war in the manga is a result of a lot of different situations and it's made in inspiration of WWI
You... are a lot more optimistic than me. I've read and seen some horrible stuff out there done by Russia and others, and that is purposefully trying to avoid the worst.

War Crimes seem like a suggestion list when no one is enforcing laws or treaties. It was the anniversary of Bucha the other day.

If WN is really LLM, it's still pretty good, def a step above many other LLM translations. Probably lots of editoring by whoever is at front of the group. Or just a competent engine. I've tried to translate some old WN myself into my native language and I used DeepL, Jishoo for some kanji and a version in English I found. Probably wouldnt count as LLM or machine-translated but I was never ok with the text...

But note that I heard more of it than I've read it, so maybe the text works better if read aloud?

I feel like this is the beginning of her descent into torturing with the knowledge of a medic, cause that's definitely what gonna happen after that experience. Someone's gonna scream for someone to end their suffering, and she will be at the helm steering said ship of suffering. :finnawoke:
There's a reason we make doctors swear not to use their knowledge to do harm.

Wasn't somewhere in WWI that they started to issue survival kits to everyone in the war? Like a basic fire starter? Basic first aid was definitely issued and I remember WWI kits were a bunch of tourniquet and opium vials and nothing more.

I remember a lot of soldiers at that time were issued compasses and maps as well. I also remember those water purification tablets were issued after WWII but I'm not aware when. was it at the Korean War or was it at the Vietnam War?
Water purification tablets were started to be used by the army in 1940 and were used notably in the North African, Mediterranean, and European theaters.

Still they had issues like horrible taste and smell, not effective against everything, long waiting times before the water is drinkable, corrosion, potential long term health issues, and effectivity dropped in scenarios were water was very cold needing even longer waiting times than usual

Holy shit... i tought it was another yoko...

But its cruel cruel war.... the kind with trenchfood, gore non-stop and just the worst parts of humanity.
On a low magic budget.

.... i read trough all 20 chapters in one go. Kinda nice and bad at the same time. I suspect this wont end nice.
