From the replies I have gotten, it seems that a lot of people these days do not understand that a "theory" is not a statement of fact.Are you sure they didn't think you were spoilering stuff? That happened to me before, where someone got pissed when I made a theory that was apparently right, saying I spoiled it. Funnily enough I dropped the story soon after so they indirectly spoiled me by confirming my theory.
That's why I usually preface my posts with something like "this is just a theory/guess" or "I haven't read ahead".
