Manga has a natural "beauty filter" when everyone has perfect skin unless author specifically adds something.

But considering the older sis he should be similar looking normally, although it's not unheard-of for another sibling to be less good looking.

I think he does have a nice face, but he doesn't put in the work with hair and overall style to be in the "hot" category, just wait until he takes off his glasses

Some of you guys act like this is your first time reading rom coms. Most rom coms have a separation arc, either because the mc or fmc has to go to school or a different country for whatever cliché the author is going for. Japan has a thing for tropes. So I don't understand the complaining, odds are the chad will cozy up to the FMC, some misunderstanding will occur, but they'll overcome it, to show that their relationship can withstand hard times. You would know if this was one of those roms where the couple doesn't end up together, because it has more drama and subtle tones and adult themes. This one does not. Just enjoy the ride, we all survived these arcs in other rom coms before, we will survive this one as well.

Just because we’ve seen the tropes before does not mean we can’t be critical of them and the characters involved. I don’t care about your confidence they will end up together, i just don’t like seeing the FL be so incapable of putting her foot down and telling this guy to fuck off (to me, it sorta invalidates the established fact that she is totally smitten by the ML if she keeps entertaining the rival or treating him as a friend). Perhaps i’m relating this too much to real life, but i know a lot of people here would be pissed to see their partner stay close to someone who clearly has a thing for them

Hell it's not even the trope that's the issue, but the execution of said trope.

A love rival like this would've been better brought out earlier, instead it's being brought out now when things were actually progressing. It's the kind of execution that takes one step forward only to move three steps back.

Can't be more explicit, in my opinion. The fact that she still speaks to him since he's not a bad guy per se doesn't mean she's attracted to him, it's quite obvious not to be the case.

I am also baffled at the last part. IIRC, a few chapters ago Akkun was considered hot coming from the fact that he was Tsukko's bro (cool/hot siblings duo). This seems like an example of the Worf Effect and I absolutely despise the trope. It's the fast-food version of storytelling and uses cheap tricks to establish a new character (basically, previously established characters bend over backwards to accommodate the new characters just to quickly establish him as a worthy rival).
