It let Tina get a bit of catharsis instead of just pining from afar, and it set up the cockatrice flight feathers for the archer girl's upgrade (sorry I can't remember her name, this series doesn't update frequently enough) AND get that trip back on track, as well as to rub it in the faces of her old party.
