I get the feeling he's a reporter for a tabloid, since he wasn't ashamed in admitting to finding gossip to write stories from. With that said, it's expected that he'd get such treatment.

Even if she was disowned, due to her social standing she'd have to be the legal wife if Girold doesn't want her to be seen as disgraced.

I'm kind of disappointed that he didn't just leave the Adventurers' Guild. Going to another country would be fine.
Also, how does Lily needing a transfer makes sense? If I understood correctly, he's going to be a guild leader of the branch on the island. SURELY, the guild leader has the authority to hire someone. All she had to do was quit the job at this branch and apply for a job at the island branch. Transfer isn't necessary.

So he IS a guild leader. My point still stands, then. The "problem" with the transfer is ridiculous.
