i hadn't watched the final episode when i sent that previous message and thought that Ayu had really died 7 years back. silly me thinking that a Key series would have a sad ending. but tbh even with all the miracle healing, the most unrealistic part of the story was how Yuichi found both the angel doll and the red headband in the same place 7 years later.

This would explain how Shiori miraculously survives if you focus on her, and why Ayu always says her goodbyes and disappears at the end if it's not her route. ..But as you can see from the end, this isn't true lol. Did you have any theories while you were watching the anime?

but yeah, i initially thought that Shiori was some kind of spirit, but it turned out she was the only heroine (other than Nayuki) who didn't have something supernatural going on with her lmao. i already knew that Makoto was a fox-turned-human because i looked on the wiki, but thankfully that same wiki didn't upfront say that Ayu was in a coma, so i didn't get spoiled there. i guess the Ayu route really is the best/true route since everyone miraculously gets healed, but it still stings that Nayuki won't get her itoko wincest (you could tell she was sad about it too when Yuichi and Ayu came home after kissing).

Not everyone miraculously gets saved though. If I remember right, Makoto is either still a fox or died at the end
