I believe anime and manga both adapt to the end of LN 3. There are 13 novels, 9 of which (plus a story collection) have been translated to English. (The 9th one came out like two days ago.)

As for flight safety, it is unlikely that Airdra and flight clothes would fail at the same time, unless you ran into some anti-magic effect.

LN vol 9 official ENG released recently. Quite a bit was revealed.

Spoilers of Vol 9
Assassination plot against Anis. An extremist faction of the Empire tries to kill Anis to get rid of her. They don’t believe the feats she did like slaying a dragon. This plot fails, but introduces the Empire, particularly the Emperor.

The opinions about the kingdom from the outside, many view the kingdom as mysterious but also dangerous. The staggering difference in the quality of mages is apparent once outside the kingdom. The kingdom’s mages are way above any mages that are found outside, even the best mages outside of the kingdom still fail to compare. Many do fear the kingdom because of their mages and the past history how the kingdom rose to its current state. The kingdom is sending mages to help combat monsters as part of their international diplomacy, but still maintain a mostly indifferent attitude towards other countries. The extremist faction from before still hate the kingdom because of past grudges, mainly because mages from the early days of the kingdom pretty much destroyed countries with their magic. The kingdom in its current state doesn’t want to expand and just keeps to themselves, thanks to Anis’s mother’s efforts, the kingdom helps others who countries with the monster problems, but other countries still view the kingdom’s people as possibly monsters too and opt to not provoke them. Other countries are thankful that the kingdom keeps an indifferent attitude. But still fear if the kingdom decides to expand one day.

Monsters are a bigger problem for other countries that they rely on the kingdom’s mages to combat against them. But now that Anis’s magicology exists, the Empire is interested in it too despite Anis and Euphie reluctant in it spreading outside of the kingdom. But the idea is broached by the Emperor as he wants magicology to expand into his Empire, he invites the two to visit the Empire to expand their worldview. The two eventually decide later to do so.

Tilty at the end of the volume is trying to research a way to undo the spirit covenant. Which would mean losing their ability to use magic. Tilty wants to lose her magic as it has caused her problems but also wishes to help others who are in similar situations.

Volumes 10 starts the Empire visit arc.

Does the light novel go further, if anybody knows?

13 main story volumes, 1 short stories volume. We just finished first 3 LN volumes adaption.

Volumes 10-13 is basically a visit to the newly introduced empire. Volume 13 is the final volume that was released in Japan, Feb 2026.

So I understand why anime tend to end early, that was also the original plan for the That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime anime, but why is the manga ending early?

No one here is in a position to know that.

Sales weren't good, publisher doesn't want to commit, illustrator wants to do something else, who knows.

WataOshi also has a manga that will reportedly end at the first main arc / end of the second (long) novel.

In both cases the manga is slow. MagiRevo anime completely blew past the manga, which is just catching up 3 years later. WataOshi anime ended a lot earlier plot-wise, but probably could have reached the manga's future ending point by now if it had been funded.

Hope they are wearing spats or some kind of shorts, because otherwise they just gave everyone a slightly different show then they were intending...

Man, this story was so good, it's truly a shame it's ending so soon. I feel like there was so much potential for more story going forward, but what can you do. There were so many good characters with huge personalities and that made great expressions. It took a wild turn in the middle when Al strung up Lainie and fucking ripped her heart out and it unfortunately never returned to the cheerful vibes since then, but everyone seems happy now at least.

Tbf, Manga ending early like this is fine, if it's at the spot they can safely end. For this manga, all the major problems that are shown are now cleared, Brother's scheme ended, The "succession" problem solved. While continuing isn't problem, if anyone in the production doesn't want to continue anymore, they might have to end where it's frustrating AXE zone

Introducing a new character one chapter before the end is sure a choice someone made
