Things are finally moving forward. Apart from Harold flirting with Erica, that's the only thing I want from this story.

It's kind of sad Liner dreams of joining the Chivalric Order, but that order is pretty much useless in the big picture, having been compromised by the corrupt government and armed forces.

Why the hell haven’t you executed Justus yet?
I'd assume he doesn't have the means to do it. Justus is the final boss. Harold would know exactly how tough an opponent Justus is, and knowing that, he can't do anything. At least I couldn't come up with another reason why not.

Has the light novel or web novel (whichever) updated recently, because it sounds like Justus is the end game. So whenever we do get out of the MC having to work for him and instead cut him down, the flags will all be gone.

If you're expecting a story where the villain MC can just overpower everyone and flip his role instantly, you're going to be disappointed. Harold has to work under Justus if he stands a chance at beating him in the long run.

You will also see that starting with this arc, Harold's decisions can end up having negative consequences in quite a few cases.

The whole can't deviate from the original plot is such a stupid mentality. What, he won't know what's going to happen if he kills Justus this early? He definitely knows what happens by following the plot and that's his death and a ton of suffering for everyone he's ever known. I'm ready for him to break free of the plot and kill the mad scientist already, especially if we're 88 chapters in and only now getting to the beginning of the events of the game.

I'm interested. So I could expect him to cause a scene with trying to save Dorothy, only to cause them to die anyway. Of course in "I'm in x world" the trope of things not working their way is old. But at the same time I think here will be totally different because The world building and story has had enough leg room where changes actually have impact instead of "duh, of course it would".

@74HC595

Think it follows the same logic that filters Harold's speech patterns into aggressive sarcasm. Just like with his new little brother, being caught in an enemy nation's uniform, and then railroaded so hard you expect a freight train at any moment.

Even when Harold changes important core plot points, the narrative still finds a way to maintain the storyline. So while he might have been able save Collette's mother, they still had to escape, Harold was still called a murder for burning her to death.

So he can't just kill Justice without a narrative backed reason.

Really hope this "i gotta work for the evil bad guy" schtick ends soon.

Wasn't it revealed that their Earth is dying and that Justus is the only one who can save it? So he has to let the story progress to a degree where that happens?

Building off what @Kanashi said, the planet itself is corrupting/dying. Hence the Irregular monster that shows up in Ch 37 - Irregular. Harold covers more of the situation in Chapter 38, but specifically says why he can't on page 14. Only Justus as a mad scientist has the knowledge to stop the destruction of the planet. So he has resigned himself to following the story plot as much as he can to force the Happy Ending, hopefully with him not dying.
