Just about every chapter lately I complain about how much of the information from the novel is left out but holy crap it seems Yom left a ton out this time ranging from miniscule (they walked around talking before they sat down) to major (Yami sees Yuu messing with his phone and assumes he's texting Hikari the whole time he's talking to her).

Some of my thoughts based on what we see in the manga:
1) I don't like that Yuu's blaming himself for not embracing all of Yami when she pretty much kept him in the dark their whole relationship.
2) Conversely, I hate that in response to Yuu blaming himself that Yami says it has nothing to do with him. Like, girl, come on. How are you going to get in a relationship with him and still want a relationship with him but act like he doesn't have anything to do with things?
3) I like that Yuu is realizing he should have stepped in more which is a complaint I had when they showed flashbacks of their dates and Yuu never seems to want to delve deeper into what was going on with Yami.
4) I hate that Yami is saying there's no way she could bring outsiders into her mess - You absolutely need to because you are not doing fuck all to solve any of your issues on your own.

Some of my thoughts based on what we see in the novel:
1) As they're walking around, Yuu asks Yami to take a break meaning to go sit where we see them in the beginning of the manga chapter and Yami suggests they go to a hotel rofl. I do like the little insight that Yami has that Yuu has changed and has grown.
2) While they're discussing Yuu getting dumped, Yuu mentions he was finally moving on from Yami when he ran into her again at the festival and Yami blames it all on him saying he shouldn't have come to the festival because he knew she might be there. Look in the mirror, Yami. You 100% knew Hikari was bringing Yuu and you still decided to go to the festival. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
3) Unlike in the manga, Yuu spends some time acknowledging that what Yami is going through is harder than anything going on in his life and then praises her for managing to go back to school. When Yami mentions she's skipping school again, Yuu assumes he's to blame and says all he does is hold her back. Definitely don't like his line of reasoning but whatever.
4) Can't believe the manga didn't mention that Yuu is texting Hikari (or someone - Yami sees him fiddling with his phone every once in awhile and assumes it's Hikari on the other end). Maybe Yom is saving that for the next chapter.

With Yami and Yuu's revelation I was really hoping that the title "It's a bit late" referred to the fact that Yuu loved Hikari for a very long time but when Hikari loved him back he had already moved on and the story would be about how Hikari deals with the fact that she was too late.

Agreed. Hikari whines about Yuu being oblivious about her feelings, when she's been oblivious about his feelings for YEARS. For all three characters, it's more than just a bit late.

The characters are not really talking to each others or dealing with their problems,
I think this is the first time they've had an honest no deflection conversation about the problems in their relationship: how Yami didn't let Yuu in, how Yuu wasn't really equipped to handle her, and how Yuu's feelings for Hikari are a problem.

Like it's everything that possibly could have saved their relationship if they'd had this conversation a year ago, but now they've gotten a breather from each other and Hikari looms even larger so it might be too late and it's just closure.

I feel like this chapter is saying that Yuu's scum b/c even now he's still being wishy washy - forever in love w/ Hikari but also not really over Aya.
I took it as a moment of brutal honesty. He’s NOT totally over Yami and he’s not going to pretend otherwise, but as he says, he was in love with Hikari from the start and Yami knew it.

“I still have feelings for you but I choose Hikari” doesn’t give Yami any room to play her little games. She can’t use Yuu’s feelings as leverage if he puts them out in the open. They’re not a secret she can hold over his head anymore

So Yami ghosts Yuu and he's scum, Yami ambushes Yuu with a no-consent kiss and he's scum, and Yuu confesses to Hikari and he's scum. Remind me about when Hikari got up the courage to confess, because I don't remember her ever making the effort. If being wishy washy equals scum, then all three characters are scum. 🤦‍♂️

Note: 12 people so far agreeing... and one idiot. Congratulations Eltuzo! :ROFLMAO:

The conversation leading up to this was essentially both of them acknowleding the elephant that was never a secret?

“I still have feelings for you but I choose Hikari”
He hasn't told either girl "I choose you/other" yet - this convo is the parallel of the one he had w/ Hikari where he acknowledges feels for both and she's left wondering who he wants now.

This wasn't my judgement, this is the language used in the chapter within the context of a conversation where Yuu acknowledges feelings for two girls who both have feelings for him, which is a situation neither Aya nor Hikari is in.

Yeah i cant believe yom left it out of the manga lol. Like yuu playing with his phone wont exactly took a full page, even a little panel is enough.
But yeah first page of that nexy chapter will prob mention about how yuu was fiddlinh his phone when he is talking with yami

He hasn't told either girl "I choose you/other" yet - this convo is the parallel of the one he had w/ Hikari where he acknowledges feels for both and she's left wondering who he wants now.
any clarity in regards to who the end game couple is wont happen until that hikari and yami talk imo. Would be pretty surprised if hikari didnt appear next chapter really

Forgive me, stopped taking the story seriously ages ago, but why is she this tortured soul again? All I remember is she hates her Mom and she got her own place from some bullshit with her parents.

Only thing I ever gleaned was that almost all the negative events in her life were almost entirely her fault, save her Mom sucking. I imagine it'd make readers less angry if the portrayal wasn't so realistic. I think a lot of us know someone like this- where the solutions to their problems are quite literally in arms reach, but they like to throw a pity party instead so they can convince themselves they're a victim. They LITERALLY don't want to be happy.
