Holddddd onnnnnnn
Last chapter I predicted Hikari will also be here; so, Yuu is doing this behind her back?!

Uhhhh… okay. Where this story is heading probably hinge on what happened the coming night after this :worry:

The chapter title has "just the two of them" and the next chapter is going to be part 2, so I'd assume Hikari either appears at the very end of the next chapter or doesn't appear at all.
Yeah i mean the chapter title def makes me think twice about the possibility of hikari showing up. but i just think the bit in the novel about yuu messaging someone even when she was talking with yami just makes me think surely hikari will show up next chapter and we will finally have the hikari and yami clear the air chapter.

I don't know if he confesses in a future chapter or if he's hoping one of the girls makes the decision for him.
I cant lie, would be pretty fuckin disappointed if even after all this shit maruto still write yuu as some kind of wuss that wont take any action whatsoever.
Quite confident that wont be the case tho cause as i said before, i believe yuu at this point of the story has already made a decision on what he wants (whether its hikari/yami)
Neither do I, I think right now the biggest factor is both girls are refusing to make the decision for Yuu b/c doing so would leave them always feeling insecure about his attachment to the other. ETA: which might be why they reject him even if he does confess.

Which right, Yuu got into this mess by going w/ the flow and the only way out is making a decision. I dunno if Maruto will go the path of he can't so he loses both or he unequivocally chooses one or neither.
And yeah thats why i think surely, SURELY this is the right time for maruto to go with yuu becoming someone who finally knows what he really want. And that why i think yuu will unequivocally choose one of hikari/yami after the girls have their clear the air talk imo.

We are reaching fanfic levels with Yom's version at this point. The things he leaves out sometimes paints an entirely different picture.
The bit left out this chapter isnt really egregious tbf but i just dont understand really why yom couldnt at least put yuu playing with his phone in this chapter, wouldnt even take a panel on a page ffs

It's about how he did some of the previous chapters and it's reaching a boiling point. He seems to have a preference as to how he wants the story to be perceived. Specially things related to Hikari. He leaves out most of the monologues but specially leaves out almost all of her more calculating and "selfish" ones. Yuu typing away on his phone / checking it while they talk is also a very important detail within the whole setup of the scene. It's mind boggling to leave it out.

Whenever the novel makes it so clear, I get the feeling that it's trying to bait readers into thinking that surely it's not that simple and Yami/Hikari must be getting it wrong. But so far almost every moment like this played out straightforwardly.

So unsurprisingly a really shitty shojo drama romance plot is still just as shitty when the genders are reversed.

Honestly the best ending is really Hikari cutting ties with both of them, moving on, and finding better friends and a better love interest. Realistically though, if Hikari wins she'll always be playing second fiddle to Yami while the latter continues to wallow in a pity party for her self inflicted problems, while if Yami wins Hikari will get to be the depressed losing heroine who never really gets over Yuu. Either way the likely endings suck for her.
Hikari has had years to be the winning heroine. Her obliviousness and failure to confess is not everyone else's emergency. All three characters are self-inflicted drama queens deserving no sympathy whatsoever.

Just about every chapter lately I complain about how much of the information from the novel is left out but holy crap it seems Yom left a ton out this time ranging from miniscule (they walked around talking before they sat down) to major (Yami sees Yuu messing with his phone and assumes he's texting Hikari the whole time he's talking to her).

Some of my thoughts based on what we see in the manga:
1) I don't like that Yuu's blaming himself for not embracing all of Yami when she pretty much kept him in the dark their whole relationship.
2) Conversely, I hate that in response to Yuu blaming himself that Yami says it has nothing to do with him. Like, girl, come on. How are you going to get in a relationship with him and still want a relationship with him but act like he doesn't have anything to do with things?
3) I like that Yuu is realizing he should have stepped in more which is a complaint I had when they showed flashbacks of their dates and Yuu never seems to want to delve deeper into what was going on with Yami.
4) I hate that Yami is saying there's no way she could bring outsiders into her mess - You absolutely need to because you are not doing fuck all to solve any of your issues on your own.

Some of my thoughts based on what we see in the novel:
1) As they're walking around, Yuu asks Yami to take a break meaning to go sit where we see them in the beginning of the manga chapter and Yami suggests they go to a hotel rofl. I do like the little insight that Yami has that Yuu has changed and has grown.
2) While they're discussing Yuu getting dumped, Yuu mentions he was finally moving on from Yami when he ran into her again at the festival and Yami blames it all on him saying he shouldn't have come to the festival because he knew she might be there. Look in the mirror, Yami. You 100% knew Hikari was bringing Yuu and you still decided to go to the festival. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
3) Unlike in the manga, Yuu spends some time acknowledging that what Yami is going through is harder than anything going on in his life and then praises her for managing to go back to school. When Yami mentions she's skipping school again, Yuu assumes he's to blame and says all he does is hold her back. Definitely don't like his line of reasoning but whatever.
4) Can't believe the manga didn't mention that Yuu is texting Hikari (or someone - Yami sees him fiddling with his phone every once in awhile and assumes it's Hikari on the other end). Maybe Yom is saving that for the next chapter.
Wow so Yuu is trying to progress and Yami is still being fucking edgy? I actually hope everyone part ways and just give each other space because Hikari needs to be left alone and yuu is growing and doesn’t need distractions. He should date that junior

Agreed. Hikari whines about Yuu being oblivious about her feelings, when she's been oblivious about his feelings for YEARS. For all three characters, it's more than just a bit late.
Exactly bro, Hikari was literally trying to set him up with OTHER WOMAN BECAUSE SHE DIDNT EVEN LIKE HIS ASS LIKE THAT. She hung out with other friends and when she met Yami she prioritized her over yuu who was childhood friend and neighbor and once they got into high school she damn near forgot about him until his depressive episodes. I think most fans forget that she didn’t look at that boy until he was sad and she didn’t even try to help him out or ask him if he was ok. She only asked if he had “girlfriend” which was weird to ask knowing that she wasn’t close to him like that

😂 Even this reaction is reminiscent of the comments under those shitty shoujo love triangles. The second male lead (Hikari) deserves better is such a common take. But at the end of the day, the second Yuu and Yami get together, and the manga ends, so will Hikari's story; she'll cease to exist. No moving on, no self-respect, that's it.

SURELY this is the right time for maruto to go with yuu becoming someone who finally knows what he really want

Yuu can have growth by finally understanding/acknowledging that him not knowing what he wants is causing harm and that he needs to figure it out instead of rushing a decision even if that means he misses out on this opportunity b/c real feelings are at stake. Which is sorta what he's been doing, especially in this chapter where he acknowledges that letting Aya know he's not over her while also being in love w/ Hikari isn't exactly stellar behavior.

Granted I agree w/ you that if he makes a move, it'll be post Aya/Hikari showdown. But that showdown can also be the girls choosing each other over Yuu, which was sorta foreshadowed on Hikari's end chapters ago.

Maruto could also go w/ the move that the showdown makes Yuu realize he actually doesn't want either girl - that he's in love w/ the idea of a future w/ Hikari and holding on to the memory of a past w/ Aya, but neither girl is who he needs in the present. But that also may be a bit much for someone who isn't the protag.
