To be fair, there is one advantage a CRT offers - immediacy. Digital processes introduce delay, and while that's minimal, there are people who claim it makes a difference. CRTs are by definition 'real time' - delay in the analog domain has to be introduced intentionally in a circuit like what you'd see in a color TV.

I also won't grief anyone for wanting to run 'period' equipment on an older console... I do much the same thing with my stereos.
