i normally dislike the "i will be her/his friend until she/he falls in love with me trope" character, but i liked mc, the portrayal of having nasty feelings and having those feelings portrayed as nasty feelings along with genuine affection and a little bit of self loath made me empathize with him. mc also deviates a little from the said trope because while he does has romantic feelings for hina, he also feel fraternal love for her, it hurt him not being able to date hina, but it also made him a little happy knowing hina wants to keep him in her life just like before, a bittersweet feeling overall. the message about fraternal love being just as important as romantic love is nice, i recommend it

I disliked this. The ML was a creep that was wishing for her downfall the entire time. It never once crosses his mind that she is a lesbian. In fact the story completely dismisses that lesbians exist bc the despite showing that the FL is in love with another woman and has only crushed on other women. In the ML's twisted mind she would eventually "turn straight" just bc he's "so kind" yikes. But what really made me dislike this over all is there was no lesson learned here and the FL reacts in a way that makes his behavior okay. She also doesn't outright reject him and say lets be friends she says that there are two spots next to her and he can have one. While holding on to the hand of the girl she just kissed. It now seems like MLs twisted fantasy will come true. The girl who she is dating actually has no reaction at all that the viewers see. She just stands there holding her hand while all this happens and then you see them all walking together later. I disliked this immensely. It would have been better if she rejected him gently outright and clarified that she was a lesbian so she didn't have romantic feelings for him but hat he was an invaluable friend and always would be. Or clearly said she liked them both romantically and the other girl actually had a say in what was happening. (I still wouldn't have been my personal preference but I wouldn't have considered this story to be the garbo it is since bi and pan people actually exist) But instead this went out of its way to say lesbians don't exist and if a guy just is "nice" enough eventually any girl should want them. Right bc women aren't human beings they are vending machines that will pop out sex or turn into gfs if you put enough "nice" into them. 🙃👎 I really really disliked the message of this story. Its garbage.

It implies she wants to date them both. This is a story of lesbian erasure. I wouldn't recommend this story to anyone. It would have been nice if she gently rejected him and said they could still be friends then you could say that this was a bittersweet ending for him but I don't think you could say fraternal love bc a brother doesn't have romantic feelings for their sister. You could say friendships are just as important and valuable as romantic relationships. Imho its pretty gross how society will absolutely not allow platonic relationships between opposite genders on the whole. The story was another glaring example of that.

I'll be honest, I also have wished that the person i like falls out with the person they r talking w/, so I MIGHT get a chance. I disagree bc the ML never once acknowledges that she is a lesbian despite knowing that all her crushes are other women and she just kisses another girl. FL never makes a difference between the love that she has for her gf and the love she has for her best friend. In fact she says there is another spot on this side for you. The ML doesn't give up his hopes of "converting" her either he just says that he can love her "a little bit" more honestly and still has the exact same mindset bc in the beginning he was saying his love will never be realized but as we can see he actually doesn't feel that way at all he only was saying his love wouldn't be realized bc he was waiting for her to be totally broken bc he doesn't think lesbian relationships will actually work and he's just waiting for her to "realize this" and then she'll fall for him. But when he sees that yes its actually possible for her to have a gf. He spirals and he only calms down when the FL tells him everything he did was okay..which it actually wasn't. And then they all walk off together and we don't see the girlfriends by themselves even once. This was very creepy and basically lesbian erasure bc its not normal for your "best friend" to go on all your dates with you. With your partner. So I didn't like this story.

I disagree with you and I think your personal feelings are what maybe makes you see this in a different lens and thats okay. The problem with the ML is that Hina is obviously a lesbian. So even if the ML is the best male in the history of humanity or even if he was the last surviving male on earth she wouldn't be attracted to him romantically. So his praying for her relationships to not work out is actually him not even gaf about her as a person. What the ML shows is not actually love but projection and obsession and bc he isn't being violent he thinks hes a good guy. But if he actually truly loved her like a sister then he would just accept that she is a lesbian and not take it personally. Instead he treats her like a video game character doing nice things and helping her with her crushes only bc he thinks all roads lead to him anyway. Not bc he has tried to understand Hina or see her for who she is or even tried to ACTUALLY comfort her. The scene where everyone is making fun of Hina bc she confessed to a girl. He obviously also thinks lesbians don't exist and loving women is a lost cause for Hina that this is just a phase for her to get over. He rejects who Hina is, his "love" for her has never been pure. You can't claim you love someone if you completely ignore a large part of their identity. So if you yourself have had a crush on someone who isn't romantically attracted to your gender but you still wished for their downfall anyway so you "might" have a chance. That isn't how love is that is just delusional and psycho. Why bc no matter what you would never have any kind of a chance so you are just wishing pain upon someone you claim to like for no reason at all. The ML said from the beginning that his first love will never come true. His mindset has not changed AT ALL. Which this is proven by the fact that all the other panels after that he doesn't back off and give them space. He follows and stalks them. The only reason Hina doesn't voice something so simple like "I love you so very much but only as a friend. I want you to stay in my life exactly as you've always been as my best friend and brother but I am a lesbian and I can't return your feelings romantically. And thats not your fault nor is it mine. I was born this way. I hope and want you remain by my side Tak kun is tak kun." Is bc the author is not trying to portray this as anything other than lesbian erasure in my opinion. The speech Hina gave could have easily included clarification like I just wrote. But it didn't. And it also emphasizes, like you point out, that in the end the ML still views Hina the exact same way as heterosexual girl that is going through a phase that someday will stop liking girls and will like him instead bc of all his "hard work and niceness" bc he doesn't say he changes his mind he says hes " a little bit" more pure. Not even alot lol. And he repeats what he says in the beginning "My first love will never come true." Her not being clear just leaves it open for the boundaries to be blurred and they are as the writer doesn't show how the gf reacts to this knowledge or the fact that what Hina says is basically like a confession to him as well and then you see all 3 together. So many people will interpret this as basically poly. But Hina is a lesbian and is bullied for being a lesbian and Tak kun just assumes that lesbian relationships are fake and won't work out. He also has main character syndrome when he thinks the other girl likes him just bc she's treating him like a normal person. So I really didnt like this story the implied poly ending is gross lesbian erasure imo. Which in todays society is really really terrible bc there is a lot of that going on.

I'm so sorry but I just can't agree, because although it's true that Tak kun could be said not to be acknowledging hina's actual "self"... The last 2 panel's of the manga litteray show him changing his opinion.


In the image I attached u can clearly see him saying that he REALIZES that no matter how HARD he tried it was futile bcs the smile she shows to her GF n the smile he shows to him r completely DIFFERENT. U make some good points that can be true, even so I feel like u misinterpret what the author was trying to convey...
