Honestly, Lloyd was one of the worst OP MCs imho : bro had serious self-worth issues due to be considered a lil bitch compared to the rest of his village, fine, okay, haha... but when EVERYBODY AROUND HIM keep repeating him that he's like a freaking God compared to the average people that are NOT from an village of Gods, he just acts like they are trying to cheer him up, to the point where it felt like he was purposely giving no values to their words... At least, here, MC is aware of the powerscale difference !!

The exploitation notion also stems from Japanese work culture, where exploitive bosses keep giving complements to employees and say how great their work is for the company and the nation, etc. While forcing the employee to work overtime without pay or giving them too much work to complete in a short time.

Also, there is another notion that only the family would be truthful to you towards your bad or worst qualities, while usually staying quite about your good qualities (because those are not meant to be said, as saying creates bad influence).
That is unless you are the favorite child, at which point your bad qualities won't be mentioned, nor you would have self-confidence issues, instead you would have over-confidence or self-fascination issues.

Plus, the aspect of "your growth roots are important" is also ingrained in the people.
