I don't know why, but I really can't stand NPCs like them. MC was genuinely trying to save Shion, and they still acted like that
I honestly felt so bad for Shion. She got bullied by her classmates because of her paralyzed leg, to the point where she wanted to take her own life. Thank goodness the MC was there to save her.

this also happens in my hero academia. you use your quirk in an emergency to defend yourself/others, they literally arrest you. if I recall correctly, in vigilantes eraser gets called out for doing this.
I mean, that's just Japan herd mentality, they even have the "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down" proverb

You just guessed the future! This girl and the NEXT student who will be a Guy are just one of MANY THINGS leading up to what Reito will want to do instead of JUST RETIRING thanks to his Ex RUINING the main point of it! All these Arcs are more to show him the PROBLEMS he never noticed till they came to the forefront STARTING with that set up on HIMSELF, and then just how ARTIFICAL the Adventurer hate seem to be along with the "Abusers" who are left alone SIMPLY to further JUSTIFY the growing Anti-Hero sentiment! Adventuring CAN cure her disability! Basically Stat Growths will make up for her weakness, in essence "curing the disability!"

Not many CARE for it, specifically the Ignorant and Anti-Adventurer side because they see them as "mutants" for what the Leveling up does for them! They are so ignorant or WILLFULLY ignorant that they WILLINGLY demonize leveling and stat ups as akin to taking "Dangerous Performance Boosting Drugs" and mutating yourself! Ignorance is bliss my friend!

We have a scheming girlfriend and netorare guy, We got neglectful parents who tried to sell their daughter off to pay their yakuza debts, and now we have school bullying and the struggle of poor infrastructure for wheelchair users! We even get a random passerby who thinks strict rules about super powers are more important than saving a life. What a horrible world they live in!

It's also fairly true to life. Even in the US, where self-defense is viewed more favorably, you're still liable to get arrested for actually doing so; all but guaranteed if the use of self-defense results in a fatality for the attacker.

In a nation where the laws protect the offender (i.e., anywhere with a duty to retreat law)? If you defend yourself, you're getting arrested, even if you manage to detain your attacker without harming a hair on their head.
