So is everybody from Bel's party like this? Unable to help their friend or even come to terms that they can't do anything (or at least think that they can't) for him, so went with what they did know and hoped that would lead to a solution?

I was rereading this series when the new chapter dropped and it seemed like he cut-off any communication from them after he left the party to not slow them down. So its possible that he didn't even say good-bye which did not do them any favors.

Seems something like that, they where quite young when they separated, but seems it was Bel that chose to cut ties with them, he knows they're strong, but he might have been thinking he was gonna drag them back, not to mention he lost a leg too

Probably, yeah. He is at a fault too. He did suffer mentally, but he didn't let it show to his friends. So he suffer alone, while his friends can only worry about him. At first he stopped doing quest with them, since he's cripple now and going with easy chore quest alone(like gathering herbs). But then, one day all of a sudden he just went missing. They blamed themselves for not being able to do anything for him.

The party break apart not long after, since according to some adventurers they have heard rumors of them in a party together, but don't know if it was actually true. The mage guy looking for power in grief, becoming a high ranking and renowned. The sword guy also became high ranking and renowned, but both of them went missing at some point. Some people have heard of the elf girl, but she went missing much earlier and nothing much known about her.

You're right, it's not as if they had any previous interaction that would've established some sort camaraderie between them. There was totally zero interactions and knowledge that could have clued her in that this guy wasn't doing this out of his own choice. Nor did it show pretty clearly that he was trying to recklessly throw his life away in a fit of depression. Nor did the girl clearly had a problem with fighting people and engaging in stupid politicking. She also isn't a massive fan of her dad that it won't bias any of her judgment at all. No sir.

Novel reader here. IMO I would say read from the beginning of the novel only if you want to. Some dialogue is different but it's pretty much same scenes so it's more translation differences here and there. Manga has been pretty faithful to the source I believe.

We are currently at the end of Volume 4 of the LN, second to last chapter. LN has 11 volumes total. So technically you can start with the last chapter of LN volume 4 which is a different scene, and then going into volume 5 and go from there.
